Carnegie Museum of Natural History reviews
16Plenty of exhibits to explore. From statues to dinosaurs, famous art works, crystal and jewelry. Easily more than couple of hours to explore the whole place. Stunning architecture both inside and outside. Parking right next by for $10 all day.
Fun and interesting place to take the kids. My son loves the dinosaur exhibits and I always liked the wild animal and plant exhibits.
Absolutely breathtaking exhibits between the dinosaurs. The crystals they even have a native American wing lake. There’s so much there. Staff is great. It’s absolutely spotless. I definitely recommend going. I can’t wait till I can go again.
Amazing! We spent 8 hours and didn't see everything. Take your time and take a few days if you need too. Thursdays have extended hours.
We needed more time to see everything! Didn't realize how big it is! Lovely place with q lot of dinosaur bones. Very extensive and well taken care of.
Love it. But most of the employees are rude and not at all helpful. It's a shame such ignorance is the standard for someplace like that.
Great place for the whole family, a really good time to spend an afternoon enjoying exceptional exhibits! Absolutely check out the gem collection, it is impressive!
This place is amazing! Spectacular dinosaur exhibit, an incredible assortment of animals on display, in cases as well as in dioramas, and a beautiful presentation of mineral and gems. Lots of hands on stuff to do for the kids. Very interesting areas displaying artifacts from Egypt and native Americans.
Could be better celiac disease
Need to have more food options for celiac disease and other food allergies
Especially since there are so many more hungry kids with food allergies
Will have to bring snacks next time
Love the place. But really hard for a celiac child would have given a 5 star rating if we would have been able to feed her.
If you visit Pittsburgh come here you want history and art come here trust me and there restaurant is worth the visit as well
A beautiful museum that has both local and world history. Plenty of fun learning to be had. Unfortunately I had to change my original review as upon my last visit my favorite piece was covered with trigger warnings so it was difficult to enjoy it and since then I've learned that it has been completely removed under the guise of some new regulation. A piece that has been displayed since 1899! In a foley I can only see as modernity trying to hide the past more than display it, which is not something that should not be expected from a museum in my opinion.
Not that there isn't more to be enjoyed. I do have to wonder when the animals preserved for display will be removed, or perhaps the dinosaur skeletons themselves. After all, you can't have remains shown in a museum of history. That's just in bad taste. Oh, Don forget to visit the Egyptian exhibit while you're there!
Carnegie museums and Sarah scaife gallery are some of the best museums in the world everyone should visit consider getting a membership if you like going more than one says I do I've been going there since I was 12 years old and I know every inch of the building I stare at the painting is trying to get inspiration for my photography
It's always a little different everything we go, and there is always more to see and experience. 10/10 will be here again
This museum is fantastic but a little overwhelming. There is so much to see. You better dedicate six hours to go through and a good pair of walking shoes. I cannot overstate how clean and well maintained all the exhibits are.
Honestly let's cut to the chase the trip was amazing we didn't visit the art museum because it was fairly new at the time and my brother would not walk around art he is not interested in art like the rest of the people that went.personally my favorite exibit was the rock or minerals or gems whatever you like to call them. The dinos were really cool the birds and mammals were cool to I liked that you could touch some of the mammals like the lion. The food was our save-your because my brother would not lasted another second if ther wasn't food around.
My daughter and I attended the summer Reading program sponsored by the Carnegie Library - Main Campus. We stopped in to see one of the events that featured exotic animals. John was the presenter, and he did a fantastic job explaining about the hedgehog, skunk, and blue tongue skink. John was professional and knowledgeable when it came to presenting each animal. If you are an educator and would like your class to know about the different types of exotic animals reach out to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
