Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown PA

My mom has been there for 2 weeks after being in the hospital for a week. The staff is very good. They are constantly calling and updating me on everything.her meds, her therapy, and her general well being. I really appreciate everything they are doing for mom.

My physical therapist Kayla and her boss are the greatest. I have not walked in almost five years. Within 24 hours of being at Cedarbrook Rehab they had me up and moving my Leg's and feet. By the time I was ready to be sent home, which was less than two weeks of being at Cedarbrook Rehab I was able to walk 200 feet with my walker and someone behind me with my oxygen. That's a miracle for me. The room's are in needed updating, but are kept clean. The Food is another subject, I wouldn't feed my animals their lunch or dinner. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. I'd say most of the CNA's Male and Female are devoted employees, Hard Working Employee's under Paid over Worked. The biggest problem is with the elderly not understanding the some of the Employees talking in broken English, because they speak so fast. It becomes frustrating to the patient. That those Employees need to speak slowly and take their time with that patient. The bed buzzer, please, no patients should ever have to wait to be potty or helped with getting on their potty. I watched my roommate Lorraine go through this day in and day out. Even her daughter mentioned her concerns. Communication between the patient and personal is extremely important to their care. They need to know that there voice's and concern's are being heard, no matter how petty is may sound. I mean after all, isn't what there Insurance is paying this Center to do. My wording and grammar may not be perfect, but my heart, soul and mind know what's right and what's wrong in Facility that care's for the elderly. Cedarbrook Senior Rehabilitation Center has it's Pro's and Con's, if training of all Employees in regards to Communicating with Patients slowly and with Care, bedside manners. This Rehab Center could be and should be the Best not only in your County but the State of PA. Is what I see! My mother was at Cedarbrook fountain hill for 2 months until she passed away. She was a private pay during that time. The care of the staff was excellent but management was not! I paid for the whole month in which she passed away. They owe me a $7000 refund. I have been patient for two months but now have been making phone calls about my refund. No one bothers to call me back. I feel now that I have to retain a lawyer to deal with them. Horrible treatment of a grieving daughter!
