Chan & Associates reviews
6 Be careful, she won’t tell you that she charges both by the hour and flat rate, in my case she took $8000 retainer, $475 per hour, AND a flat rate of $1500 for 1.5 hours custody conference. And after the initial meeting (the $375 consultation) she presented me with the agreement to sign and she conveniently “forgot” to mention the part about the flat rate, so after a hearing and a conference (she told me not to attend the hearing then made me wait in the hallway during the conference) she was fired, during all that time there was close to NO COMMUNICATION with me, total radio silence, and total disregard for my all concerns and not even preparation prior to any court action or even update afterwards, it was like I paid the mailman to handle my court case not a lawyer, then after all that she gave me the shock of my life: a total destruction of my case beyond repair, and like others stated I lost so many rights thanks to her, it’s like I gifted the opposite party a second lawyer! Other low-quality lawyers might keep the bare minimum after receiving money but this one is so SHAMELESS she’d ignore even the bare minimum and won’t be shy to look like she took the money and ran. Then she’ll think she can say whatever illogic to escape the negative reviewers that share the similar experiences in a clear pattern.
Now she’ll respond to me like she does to any other 1-star reviewer: claim my review is fake or that she found out something about me that made her decide to botch my case while keeping my money (she actually did that with a review on another review website), or she’d use any other illogical way to manipulate her way out of this review like she did to others (attacking one reviewer by using their other irrelevant reviews, really?). And btw; how does one attorney have triple the reviews as local law firms with five attorneys? And after any negative reviews it seems a plethora of positive reviews suddenly happen.
Wendy will tell you she’ll “pray for you” or she “loves children” anything emotional to get you to pay her your hard earned money then she’ll ghost you, deadbeat services at a top-notch price tag. I will never forgive myself for trusting her in my fight for my baby and the loss and harm she brought onto us, she then kept every penny from what’s left in my retainer then sent me a bill.
Very SHADY! In her words she says “we will treat you like family, which means we will cry for you, console you, and/scold you do something wrong”! Using emotions is a great tactic, she sure wasn’t crying when she wasn’t working for the money she got, hiring her is the shortest way to crying over a botched custody case
Reply to Wendy: what are you talking about? ! But do what you do best, use manipulation thinking that whoever reads that will believe and side with you on your predatory behaviors, what you don’t understand is that clients want to know YOUR truth not anything else, and with this irrelevant reply you proved my words
Great friendly service! Wendy and her staff are very nice, straighforward! I like how straightforward Wendy is! She tells you as is! Thank you for helping us!
Wendy is extremely passionate and concerned about my case and welfare. Her professionalism, integrity, and ethics are the best! Her staff is awesome! I highly recommend if seeking legal counsel.
Personally would not recommend. Took my money all $7000 up front however did not follow through with what the she verbally promised. Showed up late to my hearing only to find out that she also represented the other parties mother. Once I terminated services with money left on my account, i received a bill owing money. Shady business. Go elsewhere.
Your reasoning, as usual, is flawed. A consultation fee specifically creates potential conflicts of interest. It does not protect the client or the lawyer from conflicts of interest, whether inadvertent or intentional, and it is misleading to aver that. Therefore, a client who pays 200.00,375.00, or nothing for a consult does not receive any greater or lesser obligation of due diligence by the offending attorney. The Rules of Professional Conduct are not cut and dried, every situation is fact-specific, and ethical advisory opinions are always recommended before treading into murky waters.
