Chris' Family Restaurant reviews
20Fantastic restaurant. Great people friendly. The food is awesome. Would invite all my friends and family
Hometown feeling diner like you're in your own kitchen. George is a great cook and host. Everyone gracious and accomodating.
The tiramisu there is the best I've ever had. Friendly staff and great food. Now I'm sad because this is better than all the others I've had in Chicago. What's the chances of me getting my hands on that tiramisu recipe?
Great breakfast as always.been here a few times.great diner.if in the area give them a try.
Never been here but was here yesterday and today and I want to move to Allentown PA just so I can eat here more
Good food and service, but please stop sweeping and vacuuming when people are eating. It kicks up dust and dirt and is filthy.
Pepper pot soup was excellent. Shepherds pie was delicious. Friendly waitstaff and great place.
This is the best diner in Pennsylvania. Their homemade baklava is amazing. They serve you the baklava they would serve their own family. If you're familiar with the typical frozen baklava other restaurants serve, or the thawed out tiramisu, you know what I'm talking about. This stuff is the best baklava in the area. It is huge, delicious, and homemade. Now, imagine a diner that takes to that high level with the food they serve. This is where you want to go. When I visit PA and I step off the plane in Allentown, I always stop for dinner at this place.
Very nice place. We took my 91 year old aunt and my cousin there for brunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
What an unexpected experience. Quite simply, the service, cleanliness, food quality, and ambience were such that I would compare this to an experience costing 4 times as much.
I had to take my time at dinner, as it was more than food. The staff doesn’t even know how overwhelmed I am, as they seem to do this with everyone.
Very nice restaurant with reasonable prices. We visit every time we are in the area. My husband had the broiled haddock and I had the roast beef dinner. Both were delicious! Save room for the chocolate cake with PB icing!
Very good food, tasty, good customer service, I guess Chris was there that night take long care of the customers, which is very good
Great diner.good 4 a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner
. UPDATE: Still the same, food is always good. I love diner food every once in awhile & in my opinion Chris's is one of the best in Allentown. UPDATE: Still the same. Food is very good for a diner. Very large menu. Service was great.
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat as my boyfriend and I were traveling from outside Philadelphia towards home. My boyfriend and I were not fond of the waitress (older lady with blonde hair). She got mad at us because we did not finish our food as we asked for to go boxes. I had to explain myself to her why I didn’t finish, I shouldn’t have to and it’s none of her business; plus I was given the wrong order and my boyfriend was not impressed of the quality of our food while the waitress questioned why he was eating his food a certain way, lady please. We were too scared to speak up about it when this lady berated and insulted us. We thought this place would be nice given the reviews but we shoulda went somewhere else, not traveler friendly.
Food is fresh and delicious.but the quality of customer service is VERY POOR. Coffee came but did not provide spoons until I asked for it several times. You ask for napkins.there is an attitude and provides only 2 when there is a party of 4. You ask for refill for coffee you have to wait for hours. Ordered a child scrambled eggs, waitress insists it was made out of 2 eggs when you can see it’s half an egg in there.asked to add more, waitress gave an attitude. Called for the manager to make a complaint but he was no help either, he took the waitress side.
I love this place. All the food is great and tastes amazing. There fish is beautiful and well seasoned. The French
Onion soup au gratin is tasty. The food service is top notch and really cool.
Very badly you can get a sirloin steak they give you burger meat the food doesn't even put salt on it without flavor and the waitress forgets everything is nonsense
The Roaming Trucker here, and this is my take on Chris's Family Restaurant!
This visit took place on June 8th 2023
This is my second time here, so this is my main review for this restaurant.
Today I stopped in for a simple meal and some soup.
This restaurant does not have sweet or raspberry iced tea so I settled for a glass of water.
The waiter came over and basically came across like he didn't like his job. So, I ordered the gyro platter that was listed to come with extra meat (which it didn't) the platter comes with either soup or salad and I settled for the soup.
The soup was chicken with rice, which was good and seasoned well. When the platter came out, wasn't happy that the dish with the tzatziki sauce was in was LAYING on my food! Who does that? God forbid if the dish wasn't cleaned properly. The pita bread was over toasted, and very little lamb meat on top of it, and was very greasy.
So to summarize this visit,
Service,
gets 2 out of 5 Stars, and the only reason for the 2 stars was my food came out hot.
Food,
3 out of 5 stars only because the soup was good and not over seasoned, but this place should give the customer what they say they will in the menu.
Atmosphere,
3 out of 5 only because this place has a diner feel to it, not a restaurant feel.
UPDATE!
First time here for brunch, and I was HIGHLY disappointed! From dirty silverware to dirty glasses. Waitress never checked on us. Sad to see this place deteriorate to the level is has fallen to. Food for brunch was bland!
Y'all need to step up your game
I Enjoy my morning time at Chris' Family Restaurant. Very relaxing. Food is great. Service is awsome.
I’m saddened to read the amazing service this restaurant provides. Unfortunately I didn’t even make it to a table leaving for feeling dismissed. The host (middle aged man) passed by me several times after seating a family of three. He went straight to a young woman standing in line who by the way was very gracious in pointing out to him I was waiting to be seated. He continues to ignore me finally asks me if it’s just me to tell me I have to wait for a table to be cleaned. This was what made me leave, he wanted me to wait for a table but there were three empty and ready tables (singles). Besides this mishap on my very first visit I hope to visit again when I’m in PA. But for the Ambiance to match the amazing waitstaff and food I read about, there needs to be a consideration to have a host with good hospitality.
Response to Owner: revert your question to your host “ why he chose to ignore my presence”?
If I have to ask a manager to be seated, you don’t have the right understanding of customer service and your host reflects that.
