College 9 Theatre reviews
17Some of the employees were nice and helpful and others were a bit rude. One of them was particularly snotty when I asked him where the popcorn butter was. A bit frustrating. But the movies were great and the chairs were insanely comfortable.
The theater we were in smelled nasty, the cup holder broke and spilled soda all over my friends items. It was really trashed. There was a strip hanging over the screen. Won't ever go back to this one. I'll drive to the mall or Altoona from here on out. Not pleased at all.
This theater was a little more dated than I expected, but it is probably one of the nicer ones in the greater Central Pennyslvania area, so I give them credit there.
The tickets are self-kiosked. You pick your seats before the show. The popcorn is self-buttered (I personally hate this, it means the butter is cheap and the popcorn is blegh). We got actual food (pizza) because we were starving, and it tasted freezer burnt- imagine a freezer burnt Lean Cuisine pizza, that's what it tasted like (not good).
The theater chairs are leather fold up chairs. The floors in the theater were pretty gross, and we were the first show of the day.
We were the only people in our showing so we had fun and danced and sang along to the movie. Definitely not what I expected from a theater in one of more wealthy cities in central Pennsylvania. (For larger city folks, this would be an experience more like a discount theater)
Me and a 4 year old costs:
Tickets: $8.50 a piece (matinee)
2 small drinks, small popcorn, 2 pizzas: $33
2 boxes of candy: $9.75
Digital projection and sound. Expansive snacks.as usual. Reserved reclining seats in all theaters. Reduced prices every Tuesday all day. With UEC card you get a free popcorn.
Lissseeennn! When I tell You, my movie experience at College 9 was giving the LUXE treatment with their plush leather reclining seats for $6 Tuesday (discount day) ? ! Believe it! FIRST, in addition to $6 Tuesday Discount Day, I got my free popcorn! AND, as a UEC Reward Member (Did I say the membership is free? Because, Yeah, it is!) …AN-T-WAY, I was surprised to learn that I gained enough rewards points to get a FREE Ticket to the Movies! So I didn’t have to pay. Yay Me! BUT the icing on the cake for me was being able to pick my seat preference and experience the LUXE seating that was available. Ordinarily there is an up charge for the plush seating option but My Sistas and I did not care…We were Unbothered as we had the best seats in the house while enjoying The Woman King!
If you have never been to the College 9 or UEC 12 Movie Theaters in State College, PA You are missing out on the best movie experiences in our area!
Leather reclining seats, uncrowded theaters, unclogged butter machines, clean bathrooms, and sound systems that don't blow out your eardrums.
Theatre ceilings falling apart with loud rattling. Bathrooms had no lighting and smelled like a sewer, easily one of the worst theaters I've ever had the misfortune of attending.
Luxury seating was chill. The popcorn extra buttery. The lobby full of arcade games was reminiscent. Only complaint was floors were dirty in required seating.
It's different from when I used to go years ago. U now have assigned seats. The seats are super comfortable though. Almost like ur at home lol.
The luxury recliner chairs are there. The button to recline is on the right side of the chairs arm. It's nice to relax laid back but the benefits of reclining seats means you have to pick your spot (s) when you purchase your ticket (s).
The theater itself is overall really outdated and the bathrooms are some of the dirtiest public bathrooms I’ve ever used. The sinks are covered in soap scum and the floors are soaking wet. The outside windows are so streaky and dirty that you can’t see inside, it looks almost abandoned from the outside. All the employees are just standing around doing
nothing when it would take ten mins to wipe the bathrooms down. The only reason I can even give two stars is because the sound/picture quality is great. The seats are super comfortable and seem clean. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but
Loved going to the movies again. Amazing Downtown Abbey movie! In Awa of Tom Cruise and his Top Gun Maverick movie! The theater sold Duncan coffee and it was so very terrible! Won't buy that again.
The most comfortable seats to watch a movie! When you try to find your chair in the dark the letters are on the floor and the numbers are on the front of the chair arm rest. To recline the button is on the right inside arm. Spoiled by watching a movie in these luxury reclining seats. Plus you can pick which seats you want ahead of time! Perfect.
I'd hate to have to have to hire in this environment but at least make sure someone is supervising. It's hard to distinguish who is actually an employee because they don't seem to care.at all.about anything. The bathroom was gross and there were no towels. The self check in machine was broken and the staff seemed to be amused by the people waiting in line and frustrated. I'll stream on thanks.
Very comfortable theater, clean and good service. Normal prices for a theater with reclining seats and in State College. Always good to have options of nice theaters for a special treat.
Busted and beat up lobby. Busted and beat up theater. Arms broken off several seats in the theater. Still an enjoyable experience.
This is an outdated theater with a small selection of condiments to choose from limited staff and an overall ugly interior. There isn't any excuse for a theater to be this outdated with no renovations. At first glance I wanted to leave but this is the only option for the area. The upside is the recliner chairs which is a staple in most theaters now a days but for this one in particular its only saving grace. There is seat selection and the sound quality is good. If you only care about the movie quality experience than this place passes but if you like the overall experience of a theater than this place is a let down.
