Comfort Inn & Suites, Mt Pocono PA

The room was ok for the price. The bed was falling apart. Just 1 small elevator. Parking was dark.

Stay away! Bedbug infestation and dismissive, awful management.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites located at 3189 Route 940, Mount Pocono, PA, 18344 several times before, never had any issues until this weekend.

Room 209 looked clean when we checked in to our double bed room. Spent the whole day out and came back to sleep. The next morning, my little sister woke up with an eye swollen shut and she was covered in dozens of bites, all along her arms, legs, back, chest and face. Pics below!

It wasn’t busy — no other guests in the lobby and less than five cars in the parking lot, but the manager took over fifteen minutes to come speak with us about this issue. Despite showing her images of the bites all over my sister, the manager insisted that there was just no telling what REALLY caused the bites without a visit to ER and was deeply reluctant to shift us to another room.

“The same thing or worse could happen in another room. ” Yeah, like staying in one that was obviously infested was a sound solution! She just kept repeating that moving rooms might not solve the issue and that the best thing to do would be to have the housekeeping staff freshen up. If that had worked, we wouldn’t be in this mess, would we?

Eventually, the manager asked to inspect the room and we insisted on being moved again and she relented and arranged for us to move to another room, 112.

There was no apology of any kind — no sorry, no coupon or credit, no offer to clean our bags/clothing, nothing. We had to pay THEM and haul all our clothes into the guest laundry dryer and blast it at high heat to hopefully kill any of the bedbugs stowing away in our belonging.

Going by the other reviews, this is not an isolated incident. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

UPDATE: Management claims in a written response that no sign of bedbugs was found. My response is this —

How very convenient for you to come to that finding.

Your hotel is clearly NOT safe. On this very listing, there is a review posted by another guest (going by the name Richie Rich) within the last three months at the time of this writing stating that they ALSO found bedbugs in their room that ALSO just so happens to be on the second floor of the hotel. Just a few doors down from our room in 209.

They said, “WATCH OUT FOR BED BUGS! Wish i can give this place zero stars! My family and i booked rooms 202 and 206 and both rooms had bed bugs! Dead and alive bed bugs! I have several pictures and vidoes showing the infestation of these two rooms! ”

What a joke!

Not only should the bed bug reviews deter you from staying here, but I will also warn you that they will come into your room with no prior warning, no knocking, they just barge in and then claim that their system didn't show anyone in the room. Not only did it happen once, but happened twice during my 2 night stay. The safety of this place is non-existent and to top it off, the "managers" do not care which makes me think this happens regularly and they think it's not a big deal to just walk in on guests who paid $100+ for a room. The absolute worst customer service. For your safety stay somewhere else!

Bed bugs. Hotel appears clean and staff is nice but I woke up with bed bug bites all over my arms after sleeping there one night. I called the staff and they said it has never happened before but after reading reviews it seems I’m not the first person to experience this.
In addition to being gross, I had to throw away anything that could not go through a 45 minute high heat dryer cycle. Hotel price was inexpensive but I’m paying dearly for it now.

The room that me, my 1yr old son, my friend and her bf were in was disgusting we found bed bugs on there bed the thing that got me mad was they told us we had to stay the night in the room and they will switch us in the morning my friend got bit up on her face and legs, I had multiple stains on my bed they don't have cribs or pak n play's so my son had to sleep in the bed with me they really need to invest on getting cribs or pak n play's iam pretty sure I am not the only adult that would need something for their baby to sleep in. There bathroom walls are I don't recommend this hotel to anyone

Awful awful awful continued just thought I'd add some photos for reference, the air conditioner was dirty and so was it's filter that clearly hasn't been cleaned in a year

Beds so uncomfortable, room smells but I got air freshener, bathroom tub need work it's just wasn't worth $570 for 3 days.

Locked out of my room on the 2nd day of 3 at 3am. No one at front desk. Im tired, i want to sleep.

Nice room. Excellent breakfast, one of the best free breakfasts for a cheaper hotel. Hot and cold items. Bacon, eggs, and sausage too.
Very clean, and employees were all pleasant.
The location is the best for the whole Pocono area. Everything you could want is right there. Definitely recommended.

It's very a nice hotel, the bed was very hard I couldn't sleep that was only bad thing

Stairwell Fire Door off its hinges laying against the wall for two or more days! Smoking/Fire Alarms go on at about 7 AM and again about 0730 AM on Saturday morning! NO ice machine on any floors for more than two days or more! Back first floor outside fire door doesn't close properly and it's a safety and fire hazard!

We stayed at the one in Mount Pocono on route 940 the room was nice and clean and the staff was very friendly and kind we stayed 2 nights and would go back again

Great service. Everyone was super friendly. Room was very clean. Nice indoor pool. Breakfast was fantastic!

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! They accommodated us immediately when we just walked in hoping to get a room. They gave us a king size room for 2 nights. They don't usually straighten up your room if you're only staying 2 nights but I asked if they could at least make the bed. They didn't just make the bed, they changed the sheets, replaced all the towels and shower stuff and even vacuumed. The staff truly goes above and beyond to make you happy. We will stay here again for sure.

I have no issues with the staff, they were very polite. But the hotel itself was pretty rough. My license plate was stolen off of my car overnight no cameras were pointing to the parking lot. No microwaves in the rooms, 3rd floor smelled like straight cigarettes for 10 days straight. It was a long 10 day stay, I was glad to leave.

I will definitely not be recommending this hotel to my colleagues who were only offered this hotel while attending a class at the Army base just 10 minutes away.
