I had a wonderful experience with Shannon O' Neal. Since I couldn't see the apartment I would be renting in person, she sent me an unaltered video (which was very helpful) of an apartment to help me get a better idea of how the apartment's condition is. She was very responsive and understood our needs, and answered our questioned in detail. Thank you, Shannon!

SCAM Alert! I ended up getting my entire security deposit taken away and charged on top of that (which was mailed to an address I emphasized I do not receive mail at). Since September, I have not received responses to my appeal, just confirmation that my email was received and then radio silence. Sent pictures and move-in form to clarify the charges weren't incurred by me but they stole my deposit with no response already and not much I can do.: (

I hope no one else goes through this as I cut my hand cleaning build up on old appliances and worked hard not to expect this which I never experienced before!

Also, besides ignoring emails, their phone doesn’t work and they are rarely ever open. My Craigslist experience was more reliable.

Dear Heather,
I have already emailed Stacy, Shannon, Darlene, & Marysa. No response, not even a decline to my appeal, let alone explanation.
I also called several times prior and did not get through.
At this point I would expect you to return any of my emails or calls. I cc’d them all together on some of the emails where I shared images of the apartment, in case there was a communication issue between the employees at continental. Feel free to inquire with your coworkers as I sent the same emails several times to different people (each new person I get in contact with lets me know that they’ll be the one to help) before giving me the silent treatment. It is draining and I cannot force you to respond and explain why you charged me any more times. I also called recently and you were not available and the receptionist probably will not bother letting you know to call me back if able to. Your office was closed every single time I tried to stop by. There’s not much I can do either as I explained that it would be difficult for me to stop by the first time I did (a while back) and asked to resolve the dispute in person but Stacy let me know that I should go home and send an email instead. Months later and this is the result. Your place is not open due to covid and no one responded to any of my emails so I am not able to dispute.
Also, it does not help me if some people are working inside Continental Real Estate but the door is locked and I get no responses to emails and calls. It is disheartening that this only happened after move out, once the company is done collecting rent and is left with my trust in dealing with my security deposit. Thank you.

Continental Real Estate was recommended to me by one of my closest friends, so I decided to rent with them. The leasing part has been great. Shannon was very helpful and answered every question I asked (and I ask a lot). Her responses used to be very quick and I find them very effective. I'm moving in mid-August, so I hope everything continues to be great.

I was looking for a new apartment a little earlier to avoid missing out and came by one of the buildings managed by CREM. I saw that the building was under new management and was excited to find it so close to the downtown area and campus. I was even more excited to find out that they were leasing for the upcoming year. Shannon and Stacy in the office were EXTREMELY helpful and answered all questions and even discussed on the phone with me about my concerns about what I was looking for right before a holiday. Shannon is always willing to help and help register another lease to me when I saw the previous one had the wrong information. Grateful that I was able to sign with this company and that the personnel are active and willing to help.

Shannon was very helpful when I was applying for a lease. She answered all of my questions quickly and gave me comparisons between the rest of the area to show that Continental's policies and rates are competitive. When I went to sign my lease, I saw a higher number on the application and she very quickly amended the lease to honor the price mentioned on the phone.

Everything was handled through an online portal. Overall very responsive and the easiest time I've had with signing a new lease.

Clearly there’s a trend with these reviews. I firmly understand student-landlord relationships often deteriorate given party nature, however even if you cause no trouble to the property and are mild mannered they will still screw you to avoid labor or cost. To any prospective students: you WILL encounter trouble with this company. Do your research.

I have many stories to share that paint Continental in an awful light. Don’t live here. They do not respect their tenants or the spaces they inhabit. The organization is awful. The individual workers are fine, though.

I had a great experience with Shannon O'Neal! She was very responsive, helpful and encouraging. She answered all of my many questions as I was trying to find a new apartment. She made the process easy, and less stressful!

Condescending, rude and non professional. Customer service skills are also non existent. I would give 0 starts if I could. Already regret signing a lease here. Shannon is nice though. The other person sucks.

Horrible management company. Will not rectify the homeless situation in the Ambassador Apartment in State College. Multiple complaints about the squatter who has all but moved in to laundry room. COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE!

Shannon helped me out in a pinch! She went above and beyond to help me find a place, she even sent me videos of the layout to help me get a better idea of each place I was interested in! I appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond for future residents!

I have rented a lot in past and this has been by far the worst experience. We were not allowed to tour the townhome due to Covid. Was promised the place would be cleaned, painted, pets were not allowed ever, non-smoking home and could get in early due to my masters program. We were not allowed in early because they were painted and cleaning the property. Ok that’s a little understandable as that’s what was in the contract and we were asking for a favor. Showed up on day one and the place was filthy, if they painted it was done by toddler and the place wreaked of cigarette smoke. When we notified continental, they did not seem surprised it was filthy, told us they never smelled smoke and were sending someone that day or the next to steam the carpet. No one has arrived. The smell hasn’t gone away (we are trying everything short of repainting the whole place). If you are considering renting from this company, I would strongly suggest reconsidering. If Continental is reading this we are still waiting for the cleaning crew to get here, the place still wreaks and a lawyer is reviewing our contract.

Almost every time I have called their offices they did not answer. It says they go on a lunch break from 12 - 1, but its more like 11 - 2. I also had a leak in my unit that I requested service for in the first week from moving in, and they finally sent out a technician the week I was moving out. They are unresponsive, and do the bare minimum at best. When you get a response they can be helpful, but the inconsistency and frustration during my time as a tenant was enough to make me look elsewhere for my next lease.

Zero stars. In contract states will be notified 24 hours prior to entrance on home for non-emergency. Multiple times was notified less than 12 hours before entering home. No organization. Will charge tenant for damage that was in the move in sheet (noted) when moving out and not give back a fair amount of security deposit (less than 20%) of a full month's rent. High priced rentals that are horrendous conditions. Rude service every time I called. Change to policies without contacting tenants, then blame tenant for misdoing. Does not remove snow by promised time. All around horrible experience.

I requested them to schedule a showing for an additional person to my lease that is to start next month. They straightaway refused and couldn't even share pictures. A virtual showing takes five minutes, I guess they only care until you sign the lease.

This is the absolute worst real estate company to rent with. When we moved in the house was not cleaned and a window was broken, which they tried to charge us for a month later. The employees are clueless and it’s honestly amazing that the company is still afloat. If you are a college student DO NOT RENT HERE. Not only did they charge us $1000 for a missing fire alarm but we had to pay $4000 on top of our $7000 security deposit for minimum damages. They are scum bags that will rob you blind.

Just recently signed a lease with Continental after having lots of trouble finding a place to live for the upcoming school year. Shannon was amazing to work with. She was open and honest through the whole process and was very quick to answer any questions I had. She is the reason I was able to secure a great apartment.
