Cook Forest Scenic Trailride, Dude Ranch, and Campground reviews
15 Great place for riding horses.
Very nice guides. Great trails.
They have full camper hookups too.
Definitely recommend
FUN FUN FUN! Took the 3 hr ride, Glory was our trail boss.loads of fun.we rented just the small bunkhouse, it too was clean. The only think I would say is a small table or bench in the room. Ill be back for the 5 hr River ride.
As a former employee of Rays now going on 9 years and now a current veterinarian I am and will always be appalled by Rays lack of treatment for his horses when they got sick. It’s why I left and no longer wanted to work there. As a man of God he should understand how important all his creatures are great and small. Looking back on my experience I feel truly sorry for any animal kept under his care, but I did get to learn a lot of what not to do for wound management, and that has inspired me in my career. If you care about horses and their well-being do not go here!
Tom's a great guide! Second time with him on the trail. This place has the nicest scenery of any I've been to. If you are new/nervous be sure to ask to be up front with the guide. Highly recommend!
Enjoyed our ride through the woods. Got up close to many resting deer. Our guide was very good and told us about the animals we were riding and history of the dude ranch. It was a very enjoyable experience. We plan on going again on a longer trip. Really nice place, you can even take your own horses.
I have been considering taking a break from work for quite a while, I am definitely glad I was able to book a last minute two-hour ride at this very Scenic and authentic trail ride. I have been on other trail rides in the past that were too simple, and the horses were lame.
I can say without a doubt Leroy was not a lame Horse. 100% recommend saddling up and going for a two hour ride, I plan on going back for the three hour ride next time!
I was very pleased with our ride today, I took my two granddaughters ages 5 and 9 on their first time trail ride. Our guide, Eve, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The horses were tame and I felt safe. The girls loved it and asked when they could do it again before they even got off their horses.
I absolutely loved this place until leaving, and I never got all my change but only had 5 minutes, and our trail ride was going. I was not impressed that she kept like 7 dollars by who knows how many people she does that to. I'll be ready for her next time!
Loved it! Quiet, peaceful, and serene! Horseback ride was perfect (even though I'm pretty sure I got the slowest horse they had)! Lori (sorry if I spelled that wront) was a great guide! Weather was perfect the whole time we were there. Would definitely recommend!
The horses were super, well cared for and mannerly. What was unpleasant was the terrible state of the trails, which were rocky and boggy. Some trail maintenance is sorely needed. I would go back, if the horses were not subjected to knee deep mud and huge rocks for most of the trail. How do they keep shoes on? They should rotate the trails, so the boggy ones could dry out, and do some water divergence. My 2 cents.
Had a great time on our trail ride. This has become a new tradition for myself and sisters when I am visiting my family in PA. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Our guide was the sweetest girl, unfortunately I misplaced her name. I really wanted to give her a shout out! Be sure to book ahead as this is a very popular spot.
Took my grandchildren ages 13 & 10. Kayla the guide was wonderful. I actually ran into a friend and old coworker with her group and we all rode together. We did the 2 hour ride was well worth the money spent.
Went on a 2 hour ride with my 6 and 8 year old. The guide led my 6 year old with a rope. Our guide and the rest of the staff were wonderful. This was not a walk on a paved or gravel path for 2 hours as I have done on other trail rides. We went down and up fairly steep trails, navigated lots of rocks, crossed 2 small and 1 larger creek all amidst the beautiful Cook Forest. I could not recommend this more highly.
Outstanding atmosphere outstanding staff outstanding. Everything outstanding. Wooden cabin outstanding public 24/7 bathrooms, the concrete and mortar. Friendly folks all around about horses. Outstanding services if you're looking to ride a horse and don't own one. If you're not into cooking out or open fire, you can drive 10 mi to the nearest town and get your fast food. Outstanding trout fishing streams very nearby
