Cosmi's Deli, Philadelphia PA

Cosmi's is a solid contender for best hoagie maker in the city. The Sicilian sandwich is a thing of beauty. The chewy seeded roll, generous helping of meats, soft sharp provolone, exceptionally flavorful tomatoes, crisp spinach, delicately sliced mild onions, and melt-in-your-mouth roast peppers — magnificent.

The price was right for this beast of a sandwich (I was full after half) and the friendly service from the guy at the front counter was top-tier. There's a great selection of drinks and desserts as well. A san pellegrino and tiramisu were the perfect accompaniments to my dinner.

This review is not representative of the whole menu (Cosmi's has great italian hoagies) but Cosmi's currently does not make a good cheesesteak. Regardless of if you pay for extra cheese or not the sandwich comes as a bare roll lightly coated in cheese with steak on it. What I ordered, supposedly, is a cheese steak with extra cheese. The steak is decent quality but with barely any cheese it is incredibly dry. I wouldn't even call it a cheesesteak it's a steak roll.

It’s everything you want in a Deli and is the epitome of what Philadelphia has to offer. Cosmo’s was great, quick, and at a fair price. Got an Italian hoagie with everything on it and a chicken caprese sandwich and both were fantastic, even as leftovers. Would not hesitate to come back my next trip to Philly or recommend it to anyone visiting.

The order taker was so nice over the phone. The delivery person so very nice and the corned beef hoagie was inhaled by my kids.

Good food just don't use Uber Eats when ordering delivery, it's very slow and the delivery people always say there's issues with them picking up orders from here, so just pick it up yourself. Ordered here 3 times now and there has always been some sort of issue. My last delivery guy was there for almost 1 hour waiting, I felt so bad.why does it take so long to make 2 hoagies? Ridiculous. Every other place I order from gets here so fast, very little to no waiting.this place has good food but is just not equipped enough to handle high volume delivery orders for whatever reason. Or they're intentionally slow because they hate making food for the delivery services and giving them a %. If that's the case take yourselves off the platforms already! I shouldn't be waiting over an hour to get 2 hoagies delivered less than 1 mile away! Trust me people, just pick the food up yourself!

Best place for a good sandwich in South Philly. I have tried their chicken cutlet sandwich and a few of the hoagies from the deli and they were all great. You get a very fair portion for the price. The seeded rolls are immaculate and a must! A small hoagie is more than enough for me, a large is definitely big enough to share. I have not tried their cheesesteaks yet but have heard nothing but good things. Their hours and location are very convenient and they have a very friendly staff. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Cosmi's was on my to-do list for quite some time now. Originally a recommendation from The Bok's Instagram post, I've also heard Cosmi's mentioned a few times here and there as well. I ordered a mushroom cheesesteak with cheese wiz. The flavors were not there. The meat was dry, the cheese wiz was kinda bland, and the bread was tough and dense. I was expecting more from a place that was highly recommended and won an award for their cheesesteaks back in 2008. I wouldn't recommend coming to this place, especially with the competition in the Passyunk area. There are far superior places to grab a sandwich during lunch that will taste better and make you wait less time. The staff was pretty friendly though.

Needed help with three large hoagie trays for a field trip- great food and the most incredible service, so grateful for Cosmi's.

Hit-or-miss. Better when you pick it up vs.delivery. The chicken & waffle tots are awesome! Also tried the buffalo chicken tots they weren't too good but the cheesesteaks are very solid and they don't skimp on the meat like some places.

A South Philly classic! Everything on the menu is amazingly good! Their Italian hoagie is iconic! Their homemade chicken salad is delicious!
For tourists - beware, the neighborhood location is super tight, no parking - order ahead, or choose delivery.

First time patronizing this business and its a no for me. The steak (chicken cheesesteak) wasn’t good. The chicken was extremely dry! Meat was packed to the top, that it left no room for the ketchup they forgot. They also forgot the mayo. The pickles were placed on the bottom of the roll (one half) and the other half was pickle less. The one star is for the steak temperature, upon getting it home. It was still hot.

Love Cosmi's Deli. One of best hoagies in Philadelphia. Get the seeded roll. It's delicious! Owner Mike Seccia is a great guy. Everything's good: steaks, chicken, tuna, cheese cake. Just go. Highly recommended.

Omg! Whether you’re going for a run or just want a quick bite to eat. This place is literally a hidden gem! I’m not exactly sure how I’ve never been here lol I went with my boyfriend during my lunch break & I have to say it’s amazing! We got the chili, Caesar salad, tuna wrap, and house made Turkey wrap with macaroni salad & chips! Whoa! 5/5 forsure! Now this is not really a high end restaurant but the service & atmosphere is outstanding as if! I love the fact that the owner works shifts here as well. You would never know because everyone treats the customers extremely nice. I’ll definitely be back in the meantime, you have to try for yourself! They have both outdoor & indoor seating as well.

Great food, great service. This small corner store deli is a fantastic find. It's only a few blocks from the more famous cheesteak places, but is way better! It also has a massive menu featuring vegetarian and vegan options. So if you want variety and good service Cosmis is the place to go! Carryout only, takes cards.

Overall it’s def my go to staple for a Cheesesteak or a Hoagie in Philly. Honestly, has some of the best service and quality food. Although I def wish they had a place to sit while you wait for the food

Love this place. Call once a week, at least. Meatball or Italian sometimes, but my go-to is the chicken tender platter. 2 meals for 1 person. Great soda collection. Once the staff offered a suggestion halfway through my sandwich's prep, just a little wisdom for me, which of course I accepted and was glad with. Just pro's pros in there. My home field.

Best cheesesteak I’ve had in Philly. Massive and fresh and packed to the brim with goodness. It’s funny because this place is right down the street from Pat’s and Geno’s but it towers over both of them when it comes to the cheesesteak quality. Friendly owners too.

Better cheesesteak than the famous other places. If you want a quality tasty cheesesteak, it’s here. Also great people working there!
