Coudersport Ice Mine reviews
18What a awesome place! Lf I didn't see it for myself I wouldn't believe it's real.
Was a neat stop, cost is $5 a person and $2.50 for children under 12. Quick explanation and tour provided by owners and small gift shop. All under 15min.long.
Yep, the Indians came out of this mountain with raw silver to trade with the local white man, the hole thing that got this started! The locals began digging to find the raw silver but instead found ice! Which was the founding of the ice mine. The silver is still there never to be recovered yet, there are still tale tell signs of dig sights all over this mountain for silver deposits.from back in the day! My uncle has a camp on top of that mountain he had a well drilled down 450 feet at that point they drilled into a cavern filled with water 40 gallons a minute the same depth as the ice mine. Legend has it that this mountain sits on a glacier left over from the ice age!
Literally a very cool place to visit. What a crazy phenomenon nestled in a beautiful area.
Fascinating! Great guide and friendly staff! You must see this place! But hurry before it melts!
Fantastic little roadside attraction! Our tour guide Riley was very informative and the gift shop was serious fun.
My family and I found this place really cool! It's small but very interesting. And very chilly inside! Amazing that it's natural!
If you're in the area it's a cool little stop with a nice gift shop. It's small and doesn't take much time to check out maybe 30mins.
What a fun and interesting sight. I'm so glad we found it. Our son loved it. We were all fascinated by this natural wonder. We will be back again.
Very friendly staff. Knowledgeable. They welcomed my canine companion. Patiently answered all questions. GPS was a little wonky and tried to send me and another visitor up an unpaved mountain road. Glad I stopped. Parking is limited at top and campers should park at base of hill and walk.
Very nicely kept small attraction! Staff was very polite and was knowledgeable. This a cool spring to mid/late summer stop to see the ice.
I love this place! Tiny little hole in the wall, NOT a mine or cave, just a fascinating little curiosity that no one is 100% sure why it even exists! If you are in the area definitely check it out. May thru August only!
Quick stop to see an ICE mine.really cool. Something to do and very interesting but I wouldn't make a special trio to get there Guide was friendly and knew his stuff. Nice gift shop too!
Very cool experience, only 5 bucks to get in and on a nice hot summer day, very cold and refreshing.
Its not really a mine, but it IS pretty cool - pun quite intended. This is one of things that is worth seeing. Once.
Such a cool road side attraction! Worth the stop and $5 if you are into unexplainable natural phenomena, staff was very friendly. Good stop on motorcycle.
People were super nice. I have never seen anything like it. Everybody should see at least once.
Vintage roadside attraction. Not much to see, but what you are seeing is a natural curiosity. Worth the stop!
