TL;DR: made a deal, then the price went up because the boat needed repairs to run.

Unfortunately had a really poor experience with the folks at Coventry Motors. Stopped in and looked at a boat. I spoke with one of the owners and we agreed to a price on the boat. Their son came outside and showed us around the boat. He told us repeatedly how great of a boat it was: great condition, ran great (in the shop only thus far), well maintained by a meticulous owner. We went back inside, they said they had to check with the owner (it was on consignment) regarding the price and the accessories he had for it.

I didn't hear anything for a few days so I gave them a call. They "had been trying to reach me" but must've been calling someone else. Well, the good news was that the owner agreed to the sale, he had some great accessories and they were replacing some items because when they tested it on the water, it was a little slow to start. But we agreed to meet on Monday for a test run.

Monday came, we drove an hour to the lake and the boat was not running. Owner had apparently run it for an hour before we got there and it died when he was coming to pick us up. They were gonna take it back and "make it right" and give me a call.

Two days pass and again, no call. So, once again, I called them in the afternoon and they said the repair was $1400 and the owner now wanted to add it to the cost of the boat.

We had an agreed upon deal for a great condition, great running boat. I gave them a deposit. But now the price was going up.

So, I was out several hours of time and had no boat. We passed on a few other nice boats that were subsequently sold in the meantime. Fortunately they never ran my credit card for the deposit, though I am sure they would have refunded it. That likely would have been the 1 customer service thing they did correctly in this whole ordeal.

My boyfriend and I purchased our first jet ski here. The customer service was EXCELLENT, and the price was very affordable. I loved how the mechanic instructed us how to properly use the jet ski and some common mistakes people make on their first outing in the water. That was VERY useful.

Recommended! They were able to engineer a solution to a part that was discounted using a different part and modifying it for my PWC.
