Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, New Freedom PA

I feel Cracker barrel is not the same as it once was. We had a nice lunch. However the food was average and my normal highlight is visiting the store. Visiting during their Christmas season I expected much better. The items were cheap looking, overpriced and little variety. The normal nostalgia I felt looking through the store was gone.
The restaurant ceiling seemed to not have been cleaned in quite some time. Beware if they turn their ceiling fans on as they are full of dust. See pictures.

Carry out service was handled by one waitress (for the whole business) but she produced good results. Two complete dinners in 12 minutes. We have ordered curb side 3 times after our first experience, all with high satisfaction.

User Interface: 5 (more detail and attention getting signage on where to park for pickup) and arrival call process, i.e. Get the name, vehicle identity, phone #. Waited 20 minutes, called back and said they could not find me in the designated pickup parking spaces. My fault, but dealing effectively with seniors takes well thought out effort.
Nice to have Cracker Barrel in the community.

About 5 after 3 this afternoon, I called and asked if I could place a take- out order and was turned over to someone who took my order. I ordered a Sunday Homestyle Chicken Family Basket (serves 5) with 2 sides (fried apples and green beans to be picked up at 5 O'clock. I asked if an apple pie or pecan pie was available and was told no they weren't, so no problem. Gave her my name - Hunt.
My husband went to pick up the order. When he got home, we discovered he was given a Single meal box $11.99) with sm.green beans, sm fried apples, 2 biscuits. He said he had to wait as there were other people waiting.and they thought his name was Hunter My point is that you lost money because the order was not written down properly and we were really disappointed and I had to add things to make it a full meal.
We have eaten here at your location many times and never been dissapointed in the service or food but this is the second time a takeout order of ours.was messed up. If - if we order take-out again, we will need a table to take out every item to make sure we get the right order. Suggestion - this is an area you need to work on so you don't lose more money as you did in this instance. Our order would have been $30.00 plus but instead, you lost money.

I'd never been to a cracker barrel and was so excited to finally eat at one. The food was bland and the service just as bland lol. The waitress did try but it's a no go for me. Most definitely won't be returning.

The waitress was great as well as the service. The menu was smaller than usual, what wasn't on the menu was out of stock.

I am disappointed in Cracker Barrel, it took over 45 minutes to get my food. Will not be going back again. The food not good like it use to be. I waited to get my food only because I had a gift card or I would have left. I use to love going to eat at Cracker Barrel. The lady manager did apologize to me for the long wait, but the other manager I spoke to he had a nonchalant attitude.

This was our first time at this location, we waited for 15 mins before we asked the host for coffee. She was very helpful but the servers were not. Another table offered us their biscuits and a second table told the waitress that we were there before them so she would help us. The customers were excellent but the wait staff was slow. Maybe it was an off day which I know happens.

My husband and I have always enjoyed going to Cracker Barrel but after this last experience I don't think we will be going back. The service was so bad to the point of being unbelievable and we felt like we wasted our money. Then after emailing them about everything that happened, they replied and apologized and said they would be sending a comp card in the next few days to make up for the experience. The comp card turned out to be for one free dessert.

We haven't eaten inside here in person in a long time. However Covid has changed the world so we only do carry out now. We've had several experiences here during busy and slow times and we've had the same experience each time where after waiting for 30 minutes for your food they do not include all the components of your meal and you have to wait for them to give you the other parts of your meal. If you get 2 meals with pancakes you should at least get a separate syrup for each order. If you get 5 meals then you should get 5 silverware. They make you specify these things online then ignore them in the restaurant when it's on the receipt. We saw other people having to go back and forth inside when their carryout orders got messed up too and it's stuff that should be basic. Lots of other businesses have adjusted to carry out and we usually dont have problems. It's really a simpler model that should reduce costs to the business if done right so providing a good carryout experience should actually benefit the business.

Love Cracker Barrel, but it is in dire need of good cleaning. Very dirty all through in dining, restroom even walking by the kitchen looked dirty. It’s a shame because we love the food.

Decided to update this old and crusty review because it was a bit vague. Originally rated 4 stars, but upgraded to 5. I love coming here for their steaks and cooked vegetables. That's pretty much all I order here, despite other options that are still extremely delicious.

I ordered the spicy season catfish. It was excellent! Season perfectly! Service was just as excellent! This is not my husband's favorite place but he ordered the same as me & was very impressed & I must say satisfied! Thank you Cracker barrel for a wonderful meal!

SERVICE WAS SUBPAR, BISCUIT WITH SAUSAGE GRAVY THAT HAD NO SAUSAGE IN IT, WAITRESS FORGOT 1/2 if my friends items and served a table that came in after we did.never again.

As much as I have always liked cracker barrel. This has got to be the worst location by far. We showed up for dinner about a hour and a half before closing. For starters 2 things my son asked for on the menu were apparently"UNAVAILABLE"ok I dealt with that in the beginning. But as our dining experience wore on. I got the feeling we were being rushed to leave.the waitress acted like it was a problem to refill our drinks. I ordered the hamburger steak and I was brought literally a hamburger patty with no gravy and dried out mashed potatoes.the waitress brought the check without even asking if we wanted dessert. When my daughter in law asked for a to go cup for our son.the waitress gave us a dirty look like it was a issue. We spent $80.00 dollars and with the service and the dinner I got in particular and lack of availability. I can tell you it was worth nowhere near that. Please if you are traveling through this part of PA and need a quick bite to eat. McDonald's would be a far better choice

I was not pleased with this visit. To start the guy clearing off the tables felt he should slam every plate and cup he could as he threw them into the bin to take them back and wash them. I ordered a milk and a water and received milk only. The servings were very small. The breakfast I ordered for $10 just barely covered the bottom of a 5 inch plate. The pancakes were not done in the middle and still liquid like. I will not return.

Food is good and abundant. The new guy seemed a little nervous, but was prompt and friendly and made us feel appreciated.

It was great! Delicious food for a reasonable price, good atmosphere and great customer service. I take one star because of the wait time. They said 30 minutes but we waited for over one hour to get seated, if they had said that from the beginning I probably would have done take out.

Best breakfast! Pancakes are amazing. Service wad great.everyone was so nice even though they were clearly short staffed (like everywhere these days) and they were working their tails off but still managing to be pleasant. All our food was delicious.
