Crown Fried Chicken reviews
4I recently dined at this fried chicken place, and it left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the chicken itself was crispy and flavorful, and the portion size was generous. However, the wait time was a bit longer than expected, and the sides were underwhelming. Additionally, I found the prices to be a bit on the higher side for what was offered. Overall, it's decent for a quick fried chicken fix, but there's room for improvement.
I would rate 0 stars but don’t recommend here… flat soda, will refry your food instead of freshly made…. You can taste the food has been fried over and over again… can’t even say this is just something you grab late after work… DONT RECOMMEND IT
In the South there is a saying, don't judge a restaurant by it's exterior appearance. This is because some of restaurants look shoddy but the food is out of this world good. Crown Fried Chicken seemed like one of these kind of places. You walk in and there are no tables, no chairs, just the take out counter. The air didn't smell like a fried chicken shop would typically smell with the fry grease roaring, turning batter crunchy and delicious. The menu with a wide variety of options available, and a couple of panels with flickering lights. Not that these were bad signs, but adorable character flaws you find in hole in the wall type joints. I was curious how halal chicken would be different from the southern style I've enjoyed for many years now. I ordered dinner and took it back to my hotel to explore the contents of the box. And that is where my excitement ended.
While eating it, I quickly picked up that it definitely fit a specific niche: ideal grease contents for filling your stomach after closing down your local dive bar and helping fight the dreaded next day hangover. It was good for what it was at the time, a meal to fill the stomach. They are generous with the fries, which are salty and decent. But the chicken, it wasn't anything different; it wasn't memorable. It wasn't something that I would leave this city and think about until the next time I came here.
Overall, tried something new in a city I am visiting and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the hole in a wall with character flaws that produces amazing food. 3/5, because I would destroy a box at 2am:)
