Brought my car in to check over my electrical before I wore down a new battery, like I had the day before. I installed a new battery and I had advance auto run a test to inspect alternator performance. They reported no issue. Technician at Dave Smith hooks up his battery and alternator tester, has me cycle the lights but not turn on the car (how do you test a generator without letting it generate.) Then tells me his device is reporting that it isn't producing enough power and needs to be replaced. Cool I'm game, I'll even go pick up the replacement. Test it at O'Reilly's, no issues. Decided to check at a SECOND advance auto location and again it reports no issue. Every single test required the engine to be running. It seems obvious why the technician at Dave Smith was reporting that it wasn't producing power, it wasn't connected to a running engine! I know that technician knows more about cars than I do, so I can only assume they know how to use their testers. Either they didn't know how to use their tools, or they were trying to rip me off. Either way it was worth writing this. Double check anything these guys recommend at another shop, and then get the work done at the other shop.

With Covid still a factor, I didn’t want to go to a large ‘Chain’ Service Center. The owner, was helpful & knowledgeable. The mechanic quickly completed my service. Great, affordable local business. Highly recommend.

I have taken my cars to Dave Smith many times over the years. Most recently, I took a car to get the PA state inspection and emissions done. They were ready to start at the appointed time, the service was done on time, the cost is fair, and they are courteous.

I called Dave Smith's auto and spoke with a representative concerning a headlight modification I needed done to my vehicle. The representative quoted me a price of 150.00 to have the work completed so I made all necessary arrangements to drop the vehicle off the next day. I scheduled time off work, arranged an Uber trip to pick me up from the auto shop. Upon arriving at the shop, the mechanic pulled my car in the shop preparing to complete the job. The gentleman then advised me a completely different price of 272.00 instead of the amount we agreed upon. When I refused to pay the new price he pulled my car out of the lot, forcing me to leave without any work being done. DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY! THEY DO BAD BUSINESS!

I am truly grateful for the great service that I receive from Dave Smith Auto. Mitch, an excellent mechanic, picks up my car at my worksite and returns it to me as well. Last year my Honda Fit broke down because the alternator was failing, and being 35 miles away, I had to go to not one, but two Honda dealerships for help. The first dealership said I would have to wait a week before they could look at it. The second dealership put in a new battery which was not needed, but I got my car back to Dave"s where the alternator was rebuilt and my car has been driving great ever since. Also, Honda said there is only one company that makes tires to fit my "Fit", but Dave Smith Auto gives me many options and fair pricing. I am happy to refer people to Dave Smith Auto because they have great mechanics, great customer service, and fair pricing.
