D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. - Brewery, Museum and Gift Shop reviews
17The tour is A MUST for beer lovers. A true walk through the history of this excellent brewery. No glitz, or lines of huge stainless steel vessels, just true-to-the-art beer making in the original site. A National treasure.
The visit was informative thanks to the tour guide. I loved the tour through the tunnel. The gift shop had product available. Enjoyed it all. Would love to visit again.
The best brewery tour we have been on. Historic tour with a fantastic guide mixed with great staff at the shop and ending tasting room makes this brewery tour a must. Kid friendly and they really go an extra mile to make the little ones feel special. Tip your tour guide as they do fantastic pours at the end of the tour and deserve a good thank you for the knowledge provided and historic sites they allowed to visit.
Great tour and knowledgeable staff made entire family members from Chicago's visit truly enjoyable. Bought great quality merchandise to remember our visit!
Great experience and learning adventure!
Tour guide Anita was excellent. Knew her stuff & was very congenial! My wife & I enjoyed it very much.
Awesome tour! Learned a lot of history about Yuengling and some beers I’ve never tried before! Would recommend for a random trip out there.
Anita's was a very informational and humorous tour guide. Just loved her! Loved the history, very impressive 6 generations. I'm not a beer drinker but did do the tastings.
Very very very cool experience, I recommend it for everyone, however, it can be difficult for those who can not walk stairs so be weary of that, and if you can not walk that, they do give that person a free extra beverage. For the kids (or kids as heart), they have unlimited birch beer, so definitely try that. Their gift shop is also fun and filled with inexpensive gifts. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return again!
Sarah was an excellent tour guide. She was very patient and definitely knew her stuff. The brewery speaks for itself. OId, graceful, distinguished. If you're in this area you have to stop. We drove from Rochester NY to see it and it was well worth the time.
Had a great time on our tour today! Guide was funny and extremely knowledgeable of the company. We had our 3 kids (all under 10) with us on the tour today and our guide did great with them and kept them interested while we went through. Best part was the tasting room at the end, especially when the kids were allowed to pour their first root "beer". Will be making the trip back with other family/friends that come visit us here in PA.
My boyfriend and I were in the area and decided to add this tour to the itinerary. He decided to purchase a few souvenirs beforehand, but had to wait while JJ finished her task of removing labels before she rang up his purchases. During the tour we continually got our hand slapped for tarrying a few seconds while taking a few photos. I felt rushed and anxious and found it difficult to enjoy the tour. At the end while waiting at the bar for my two free samples, JJ purposely ignored me and served the man behind me. I’ve rarely felt so disrespected by a person in customer service. Rude from beginning to end. Very disappointing. Aside from the rude tour guide, the history and mechanics of the brewery were really interesting.
This is by far the BEST brewery tour we have taken! What would you expect from "America's Oldest Brewery"?
They really do an amazing job making you feel like you stepped into a time machine! From the beginning of the tour going into the caves, to standing up top of the big kettle and looking out of the stained glass windows.to getting up close and personal to the canning line.
They really show you how it's done here on this little brewery built into the side of the mountain. The samples at the end are always a treat and the gift shop has stuff for every budget of Yuengling fan!
Try to make it a point to stop here. Then afterwards head south on Rt. 61, hit up Port Clinton Hotel, Port Clinton Peanut Shop, Cigar International and of course Cabelas!
Beautiful facility in a gritty historic mining town. The museum has a lot of interesting artifacts and there is a ton of merchandise to buy.
The tasting room is way too small and is obviously not meant for lingering, as there are no places to sit. There are only standing room tables, big enough for up to 4 people. It is mostly a holding room for people waiting for the tour.
Beer is mediocre, though I recognize that's not a popular opinion.
Quick trip for their Hershey's chocolate porter. Will make another for growlers, as long as their supply lasts.
I need more stars available! The oldest brewery In America is worth the visit! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The gift shop has many items for fans to celebrate Yeungling!
I really enjoyed the tour. I was a little biased since Yuengling is my beer of choice. But I think any beer lover, or maybe even non lovers would probably enjoy the tour.
I spent the whole tour wanting a beverage because of the aromas from the brewery. So the samples at the end of the tour were just the ticket and wet your wistle to buy some beer in the gift shop on your way out.
I'm not kidding, a really nice tour.
Wow! What a great tour! JJ shared the rich history of the brewery and Yuengling family with a very informative walk-through of their original and still operating brewing facility in Pottsville. Highly recommended!
