Dim Sum House by Jane G's - University City reviews
15 Great environment, good service, and a huge menu. I came here with a friend and ordered dishes recommended by the internet: crab and pork soup dumplings, lobster sticky rice, eggplant with garlic sauce, pork bao buns, and sat and pepper wings.
Highlights were the soup dumplings and eggplant for sure. Salt and pepper wings were delicious but pretty salty after eating a few. Lobster sticky rice was $57, probably not worth it in retrospect though it was a cool dish. Bao buns were solid.
Spent about $118 on two people before tip. Worth it, but be careful since the menu doesn’t list prices.
Also, they have a happy hour on weekdays with cheaper drinks and apps!
I love ordering out to eat it at home. The shrimp dumplings and shrimp and chive dumplings are always outstanding.
I would say this place had really good food and I loved their dumplings. One criticism is that I think the dumpling sauce was a little bit too soy sauce based and not the best I had but this is more personal preference. It is also a little overpriced compared to the dim sum places in Chinatown.
Will always get several dishes when I eat here with others and everything is delicious. I LOVe the shrimp shu mai. Love the atmosphere at both locations.
I love their food and I order it weekly. But they changed their DoorDash range. I’m 10 blocks away and now I’m out of delivery range. It’s really disappointing. I count on this as my weekend treat. Super lame.
I talked to DoorDash and they said it’s up to the restaurant.
The service & atmosphere at the Rittenhouse location is impeccable. The staff @UC is unfriendly, the host was offensive, and the bathrooms were disgusting and the atmosphere is unprofessional all around. Bartender taking shots w/customers? ! Talking about being respected? Never returning. Two starts for I've seen worse.
Great atmosphere and very good food. Ordered the dry pepper chicken and it came with a very small bowl of rice that did not match the portion of chicken.when I asked for more rice, I was told there would be a charge for it. When I explained it was not nearly enough rice to go with the chicken, I was told “that’s just the way it is”. Disappointed about that but otherwise a very nice place.
Me and my family love Dim Sum House. The food is delicious and the service is always amazing. Some of our favorites are the sticky rice, soup dumplings, brussel sprouts, sizzling beef short rib, ginger scallion fish filet, and the Dan Dan noodle.
The best dim sum in Philly - if you never have had dim sum, start here! Seriously, there's a wide variety of tasty options at a great price, and a very fun and original selection of cocktails, wine, beer, and sake!
First time at this location. Was greeted and seated immediately. Service was prompt and professional. The food was excellent. The salt and pepper wings were to die for. The Kung Po Chicken was outstanding. My wife enjoyed her Lo Mein with Shrimp and the cocktail was very good.
Always the best place to go to.
Mapu Tofu good as always. Dry pepper tofu was incredible.
Love this location, the atmosphere is great, good music, and the staff here are all friendly. Service is fast and food taste great as well. Will come here again
Absolutely phenomenal things happening in the kitchen here.
Most people come to Philadelphia for the cheesesteaks, and while those are classic, this place will be etched in my memory for decades to come.
When you walk in, the hostesses are a but dejected and offer almost zero eye contact but they seat you quickly. Our server was smiley and easy to talk to. The ambiance and plating are completely unassuming. Trust me, with the quality + taste of the offerings here - They could sell this to me in an alley and I'd buy. That was a bit dramatic - but good food deserves dramatic praise.
The Mapo tofu is vegan but don't let that scare you off! The taste of the sauce is rich, clean, developed, and spicy?
I would absolutely recommend.
10/10

Solid, authentic Chinese food. I recommend the twice cooked pork and the scallion pancakes. They are great for large groups if you call ahead.
