Dirty Billy's Hats, Gettysburg PA

This is just an amazing place to shop. If you’re looking to purchase any headgear and want a historically accurate piece this is the place to go. I was just looking for a standard wide brimmed style hat and I found one here in a nice light gray color that I couldn’t find anywhere else. Billy was at the register and even though there were a few other customers in the store we still found time to have an awesome conversation about history and the local area. Probably spent close to an hour in here and if I’d been there by myself probably could’ve spent another hour in this place easily! Great customer service and if I’m in the market for more hats this is the place I will be coming back to. I’ve bought three here already!

If you want an off the shelf hat they have a good selection. If you want a hat made or re-shaped drive the extra 30 minutes to Dillsburg and go to Back to Basics. Billy is rarely in the shop so any hat services are rarely available. I am a local in Gettysburg and will not be going back for any services again.

Came in for one of those "fishing hats you'll have for a lifetime" kinda thing. I found what I was looking for and they even took 10mins to have it shaped to my head! Very knowledgeable and helpful. TONS of hats, caps, lids, covers, etc. From 1800-Now

Great quality and craftsmanship although I needed a hat for Memorial day and was promised it would arrive on time. Hat arrived 5 days after I needed it. I suggest ordering your hat 2 months in advance. Busy shop

Saw his display at mount vernon. I was looking at which hats to choose for my first costume. The vendor was rude. I got it if you don't want people to touch, but you don't have to be rude (a richard) about it. Not gonna buy from you.

My go-to hatter! Buying from Dirty Billy’s isn’t just a retail transaction, it’s an experience. Besides having the best customer service as well a knowledge and research of multiple centuries for each and every hat (work of art is a better term) that he makes- he spends time with me to talk the historical authenticity of the hat I’m looking for. Also his amazing sense of humor makes it just fun to shoot the breeze with as he hangs out with me as I shop in his store or when he’s set up offsite at an event. As long as he’s making hats I’m going to keep coming back here!

Best Hat shop on the East coast. Importantly, they have innumerable options for every theme you can imagine. Totally blown away by the excellent customer service and craftsmanship. Would have rather kept this place as a secret, but we especially patronize small businesses, so this review is very important to share. A must visit… Go now!

I went and purchased my first Dirty Billy's hat for my bucktail impression the other day and it is such a beautiful hat! I couldn't be happier with it and couldn't be happier with the overall experience I had while there. I was so impressed to be able to see in person examples of hats I've only seen in photographs. Bill was extremely helpful knowledgeable, and a pleasure to talk to. I will definitely be going back to get another hat!

We were not looking for a hat but the shop looked so interesting we had to go in. I found a nice driving cap and we both had a lot of fun just looking. What a wild collection of head gear. FUN!
