Reservations are recommended but we lucked out and got seating after 8 on a Tuesday.
Our waiter was incredible. Attentive and friendly and had impeccable timing.
We ordered a bottle of wine and it was lovely.
The food ranged from ok to delicious.
They serve lovely bread with oil and vinegar
The ricotta toast: bland until you add salt. Ricotta needs salt and seasoning in order to sing.
The carpaccio: eating it with the Parm was required, otherwise the meat was bland
The mushroom pasta: yum, though I prefer my papardelle a bit wider and the dish needed a bit more moisture beyond the (generous) amount of butter used on the mushrooms
Prosciutto and peas: very tasty but a bit milky for my taste, but my friends loved it
We opted to skip dessert and overall thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The space is lovely and the vibe is cozy neighborhood and a rad romantic.

Intimate setting, great for a date.
Best gnocchi I've had outside of Italy.
Patient and friendly staff.

My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Intimate, welcoming, with delicious food. Never makes you feel over or under dressed, you can unwind with friends or have a lovely date. Only downside is the small dining room means it would be hard to bring kids on a busy night, but it's worth getting a sitter!
You can usually street park within a block, just stay south of Carson and circle.

Incredible food in an intimate atmosphere. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu as everything is delicious! Made a dinner reservation for a small group celebration and waiter was very attentive!

Amazing restaurant with real, authentic italian food! It is the only one like that I could find in Pittsburgh and is not crazy expensive. The owner is so nice! I'll come here all the time

Small step to enter the building. No hand rail FYI. When entering, bar is on RHS and dining room on the left. Cozy set up as tables are fairly close together but not too loud to enjoy your conversation. Weekly specials and menu updates posted to website every Saturday. Service was excellent. Food was delish and portions for pasta are not skimpy. Bread and dipping oil served with your meal. Lovely experience overall.

I wish I was better dressed while eating, but nonetheless, it was a wonderful stop on our visit to Pittsburgh! One of the best meals I’ve ever had and worth the price in my opinion.

Dish is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. Probably categorize as Mediterranean Sicilian, - cool friendly atmosphere always with great world lounge music and no tvs. The food has been consistently great since it opened over 20 years ago- its a family run neighborhood restaurant, with the two brothers (from Sicily) always there, so the quality control is perfect.

You will have an amazing experience, full stop. Food & service is impeccable, literally everything you order will be delicious AF. Make a reservation or be patient if you walk in- space fills up b/c it is so worth the wait. Anyone that has anything negative to say about this place is simply incapable of joy.
A Southside gem!

Wow! Words can not begin to describe how appreciative I am to Dish. Tonight dinner was brought in to the homeless shelter where my children and I are living. We heated it up in the oven and when I opened the oven door I was hit with the most pleasant succulent aroma. I lifted the cover to find whole chickens with potatoes and carrots along with green beans with almonds. My first bite and I was taken to a wonderful place rather than the shelter I am living in. Thank you so much for caring and providing my two boys and I along with all the other residence with such a delightful, delicious, high class meal. You could not begin to imagine how excited my son was to see there was also dessert! He was thrilled and couldn't keep his hands off the snickerdoodles which are his favorite cookie! Thank you for your kindness and I hope to one day dine in your incredible restaurant.

What should I say. Being from Europe and in Italy so many times, that's the place to go if you love Italien food and lifestyle. As I was on my own, I was placed at the bar, what I actually love. Left side regular guests enjoying the menu, left side newcomers getting more and more excited just with the cocktails and wine. They had not even started with the food. I am so glad, that I made my way from downtown up here. Will be back.

Great food, but not for everyone. My friends did find something to eat, but aren't as happy with the place as I am. There are no good dishes here for people who aren't into authentic Italian. This chef's dishes are nothing like mine, but my entree didn't have obvious room for improvement. None of the meals did, actually. It was all wonderful. Even l our pickiest eater finished their meal. Bread (focaccia) came free with the meal, though it wasn't the best.

Here's what wasn't perfect:
- The shrimp was a little fishy. None of the other seafood was; the scallops, mussels, clams, and calamari (i frutti del mare) were all excellent.
- The outside of the focaccia was quite salty. The bread kind of tasted like popcorn for it.
- The olive oil dish served with the bread is quite deep, making it difficult to get at the balsamic without saturating the bread in oil.
- The ice shaking sound at the bar is quite loud in an otherwise quiet environment.

Everything else was great. Real candles at the tables, good presentation, fancy food make this place a great date spot.

I'd love to come back, but this place is sufficiently niche that I probably won't be a regular. We'll see, though!

Best restaurant in the city, hands down.

I love that they take special care of their customers and offered protection for their staff while empty-headed patrons complained about their inability to spread infectious diseases.

Thank you Osteria. Always a great menu, tremendous staff, and a an inviting atmosphere.

I love visiting Pittsburgh. My daughter is always taking me to another fabulous spot. Last night was Dish Osteria. Both the citrus and mista salads pretty good shareable at $10. Next we shared the octopus, sardines and scallops. I’d fly back today just to have them again. Entrees were duck ragu cavatelli, fruit de mare, and gnocchi. Didn’t think I was a gnocchi eater. This changed my life. For dessert we had tiramisu, chocolate bread pudding (oh my god!), and the coconut mango cake. All excellent but the bread pudding like nothing I’ve ever had. Two drinks each. Tax and tip came to $400 for the 4 of us.
Very charming intimate restaurant. Apparently everybody already knows about Dish.

I am generally not a fan of italian food. But Dish Osteria is just that good. The service, the food (Seafood spaghetti especially), and the ambiance are wonderful. It's become one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. Would highly recommend.
