Donna's Family Restaurant reviews
17The liver and Brussels sprouts were over cooked, but the potatoes and peanut butter meringue were good.
I've worked in food service, for many years, as a server, cook and manager. We decided to try breakfast at this place. They were a little busy, mostly regulars. The service was ok. I had my go to breakfast. I had no choice of cheese, I prefer a certain thing. Barely any meat or veggies in the omelette. Very small portions, compared to other places. I had coffee and my husband had OJ. Imagine our surprise when we received the bill, for almost $60. I've never paid more than $35-$40 for the exact same meals, anywhere! And we go out for breakfast a couple times a month. Extremely disappointed. Hopefully I can find a good place in the area. Because this wasn't it
Great food not a huge breakfast menu with like everything you can’t substitute. Everywhere I go they atleast have a big breakfast with eggs pancakes two sides and toast.
We have a terrific waitress. We have never been in this restaurant before. We have been coming to the area for many, many years. First time coming in, and we had a terrific experience.
What a great place to eat Breakfast! 3 days in a row and one night dinner. I would highly recommend this place for the food the service and value! Thanks staff I'll be back.
The place is nice enough. The staff were amazing. The food, however, was lackluster. The mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like flour. The fried chicken I was served had hardly any coasting left, little seasoning, and the pieces were so small it was comical. I've never seen a chicken leg as small as that, let alone a wing the size of my pinky finger. The vegetable options were a sweet potato or green beans, which isn't bad until you realize the other side is also a potato. The roast beef my kid ate was not good in any way. She said it was like unseasoned steakums. The meatballs in the spaghetti had very little flavor and the sauce was equally bland. This place caters to the elderly who prefer no flavor.
Fantastic comfort food! Great portion sizes and good prices! Thanks for the great experience!
I give the service 5, but unfortunately the majority of the food was not more than 1. The restaurant ceiling and surfaces were clean, and the staff was very kind.
I travel a lot and temporarily here and wanted home cooked food. We stopped in at lunch time, about 12pm, because we were very hungry, and wanted to try it out.
The meatloaf tasted like it's pre-frozen, or there needs to be a change to the recipe. It was served with bag/jar brown gravy, the home fries had no seasoning and tasted as though it was cooked and then refrigerated then warmed, it had no seasoning or onions in them. The pancakes were good, and the scrambled egg, though not seasoned, was fresh eggs that were nicely cooked. The roll was stale and the coffee either sat or was scorched.
Though we ate because we had time to stop elsewhere, I wouldn't eat here again.
Great food, and the pricing is the cheapest I've seen in a long time. We waited a little longer than I would have liked for our food, but we were not in a hurry, so it was no big deal. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm in the area!
Must've run out of batter for monte cristo, 1 slice of bread made correct, the other slice, they dumped egg white on the grill n put the bread in it. Dissapointing sandwich n I luv their monte.
Wife's burger was very very small. Fries were OK but the deep-fried mushrooms contained 2 shrooms that were fried black, almost like they were fried a second time til burnt.
Didn't get a chance to eat the food waited over 30 minutes for my breakfast and never got it. Was totally ignored while there was patrons coming in ordering and getting there food before me. I am talking about a party of 4 and a party of 3. The coffee was Ok
The fried potatoes were very good. I had creamed dried beef on toast and it was also very good.
The food was amazing! As a party of 7, everything everyone had was spectacular. The staff were sweet and friendly. Atmosphere calm. Food came out very promptly. Prices were great. We will definitely be making the travel from Altoona to enjoy their food again.
Sooooo delicious Homemade food and Amazing prices! Just a nice quiet place we were able to enjoy while a family member was in surgery at the local hospital. A nice place where people know each other by name.
It was good. The amount of food on some breakfast items for the price was pricey. Smaller portions then what you would usually get from another breakfast diner. Also the breakfast menu needs to have pancakes with bacon or sausage and eggs and whatever else.
A small diner with delicious home cooked food, friendly staff and a diverse menu. Good specials, desert and fair prices
The service was great and the food too except the sausage patties, i thought it was going to be link sausages. Toast was burnt, i like it light
