Dori Dog Training, Lock Haven PA

We (my husband, dog- Duke, and I) did a behavioral assessment with Dori. My dog is a 6 year old husky, lab, Rottweiler, German Shephard mix with agressive, reactivity issues which we learned from the assessment. Dori's one on one appointment was informative, direct and absolutely worth the amount we paid. We are already implementing small things at home that we learned at the assessment to get a grasp on Duke's behavior and are seeing a big difference. Without Dori I don't know what Duke's future would've been but now I have a grasp on the situation and look forward to what we can accomplish. Thank you so much, to you and your team Dori!

This guy is amazing! If you’re doubting booking a session because of the price tag let me assure you that it is so worth it! You gain a ton of knowledge and techniques to use to continue the training! We saw immediate results starting already! You seriously will not regret it!

Our nine month old German Shepherd just completed a Board and Train Program at Dori Dog Training. We were really hesitant with leaving Luna anywhere due to her anxiety and her attachment to me. She gets scared really easily and we were concerned that the training wouldn't work for her. However, to our surprise, she is SUCH a different dog. She is easy to walk, she listens, she doesn't try to eat off of our plates, and she is so gentle with our one-year-old daughter. Our family could not thank Dori enough for helping us with Luna! Highly recommend.

I cannot speak highly enough about Dori and the work that he does. It takes someone truly special to care for and train dogs, especially ones like my dog Maverick.

Mav had what we called "quirks". Everything we did had to be modified because Mav did not like new things, people, or situations. We actually got to the point where he had to limit house guests because we didn’t know how he was going to react. We couldn’t trust Maverick’s decision making.

After one specific incident we knew we had to do something and get Mav some extra help! Every dog parent, I’m sure, is extremely apprehensive about sending their dog away for 6 weeks (I sure was!), but Dori made it seem like it was not a big deal at all. After meeting him I could tell he was going to care for Maverick just as I do. Dori treated Mav like his own. It made me so happy to see him out and about doing things in Lock Haven just as we would do as a family.

Mav has been home for about a month now and our house is completely different. I never knew what having a calm dog was like until now. Every day Mav surprises me. The confidence Dori helped him gain has allowed him to learn to make better choices and see that not all new things are bad. Prior to Mav working with Dori I could barely take him on a quiet walk. We are now going on leash-less runs at a busy park and there is no more barking EVER!

Like I said, I cannot say enough about this man! He is amazing at what he does! I would recommend him to anyone!

Highly recommend Dori Dog training for anyone looking for any sort of dog training. Back in April 2020 my boyfriend and I adopted a dog without any direction of manors and dog aggression. After speaking with some local people they recommended Dori Dog training, who will now be our forever trainer. Our dog went through a 1 week board and train program directly from the shelter (best decision we made). We were given updates daily, and once she was done with the week of board and train we were completely blown away with the progress she made in such little time. We now continue to take her to daycare through Dori Dog Training which is great because it helps her with her socialization! Dori is always so flexible, and truly looks out for what is best for the dog and the parents. He has never steered us wrong, and I am confident when I say that Dori truly treats our dog like one of his own. We will be continuing more training this year and we are very eager to see our dog grow with the help from Dori.

We give our highest praise and unconditional recommendation for Dori Dog Training. We dropped off our 1 year old lab for a 3 week board and train and she came back to us calmer, disciplined, more relaxed and happy. During training we received frequent updates, photos and videos. The whole process was well explained ahead of time and all went exactly as promised. When we visited before training, it was immediately clear that Shlomi loves dogs, and was going to treat our Freya with kindness and attention. He listened carefully to our problems and training goals, and the program was tailored to our needs. Twice during the board and train we visited so we too could be trained and practice directing our dog's behavior. Shlomi brought Freya back to our home and even made a follow up visit to be sure we understood all techniques and behaviors. He helped Freya with loose lead walking, greeting people and animals, and coexisting calmly with cats in our home. Here are some specifics of the training we learned: Basic commands, sit, stay, down, release, crate, place, recall, and correction. A professionally fit prong collar helped with structured walk and heel. A high quality US made e-collar was effective with behaviors, in particular long-distance off leash recall. We are so thankful to Dori Dog Training for giving us a happy and loving relationship with our dog!

The training advice that Dori gives was truly an insight into my dog's behaviors & he gave us the tools to work with him in the areas we were having problems with. Being able to socialize my 90# boxer with other dogs his size in a safe environment has been wonderful! He loves to play & loves other dogs but it's not always easy to find other dogs his size & energy level in this rural area. Dori works training into this time as well for the dogs which make it a win win for dog & owner! We have also been able to utilize the boarding services & have felt he was well cared for & had the added bonus of the socialization during the boarding time which again, includes training. Interacting with Dori, his wife & staff has always been a pleasant & easy experience. Thank you for all you do for Brutus!

You won't find a better dog trainer anywhere! The time my fur baby spends with Dori and team is invaluable to her being happy n well behaved! They have also boarded her and I never stress over her care n well being! Truly top notch!

We boarded our Briard, Sadie, at Dori’s this summer for training.

Her problems that led us to his excellent training program included excessive barking when a car would pass our house or a truck that she would see on the highway.

At our home she would race to the door and jump and bark when any car or truck drove by.

Her ability to sit still or be in a down position was very limited.

She could not be off leash or out of a fenced yard because she wouldn’t listen to our commands.

In other words we couldn’t properly handle her, not fair to either of us.

We were at wits end and discovered Dori’s and went in to see him and then had her assessed to see where she was and how “bad” she was.

After a very thorough assessment and his recommendations we decided to later leave our furry friend with Dori.

When we visited her several weeks later, the change in her behavior was dramatic, her obedience level had increased greatly, she listened readily to our commands.

Further training and visits with her at local stores and different types of interactions with strangers and other dogs were impressive.

I could go on and on but I hope you have an idea, based on my unsolicited testimony, how well a “dog person” and excellent trained Dori is.

I trusted my west German Shepherd with Dori dog training. He was there for a 3 week board and train session with them. 18 days into the training I received a call from them saying that he soiled his crate and he had a rash on his neck. I picked him up and took him to my vet. He had diarrhea because they had him all stressed out. He had sores all the way around his neck from a prong collar and a shock collar they were using on him. They were starving him. I know this because he lost 4lbs in the 18 days he was with them. They never gave him the heart worm medicine that I had left with them. These people are horrible they use fear and pain to make a dog comply. They don’t even deserve 1 star

To reply to Shlomi’s response to my review. You say I was there on multiple occasions during his training. I was there once and I expressed concern about the nervous condition I noticed during a walk with him. As for the dozens of pictures and videos you have of him I only received a 10 sec and a15 second video of him and a couple of pictures during the whole training session. And for the “e collars” you can put whatever cute little name on them that you want. But the fact is they are Shock collars they are made to do 1 thing Shock dogs. I remember the 1 phone call I got from you in the first week. You mentioned about his barking. Your comment was “and that will stop”. It makes me wonder how many times you had to shock my dog before he was too afraid to bark.

And his Inflammatory bowel disease he had no problem with it. It was under control. My vet will attest to that. My vet has examined him on multiple occasions in the last 6 months She agreed that as long as he ate right it would be no problem. The past few months with me he was gaining 1-2 lbs a week with no diarrhea and with you after 18 days he lost 4 lbs. I gave you tuna to feed him with his dry food with instruction to give him 2 cans per day 1 at each feeding. I gave you 48 cans and got 30 of them back. You only fed him 1 per day. You couldn’t even been bothered to give him his heart worm medicine.

And I was never on the verge of giving him away. When I make a commitment to a dog it’s for life. I was trying to get him help i was willing to spend a lot of money to get him that help. I just made the mistake of coming to you

I started off with the assessment and the trainer recommended the 3 week board and train program and I was quite hesitant at first. My dog had never been away from home- not even for boarding. After reviewing the program outline, I decided to go for it and I am so glad that I did. Dori and Alicia stayed in touch with me through phone calls, emails and pictures. They updated me on what he was learning and what they would do next. At our mid point training session, I was totally shocked! Chippy is a totally different dog! He is calm, obedient and an overall pleasure! They showed me how to handle him, the words to use and outlined a suggested proper schedule for him when he returned home. Chippy has been home almost a month now and he is doing great! I am so happy with the results!

This is a great program all around. They have been very supportive since day one. I have seen incredible growth in my dog.
