From Baltimore to the World: I hear people say "Why should I use a travel agent anymore? Why not just go onto *insert whatever cheap travel company name you prefer here* and do it myself?

Why? Well, Charley is why. Doylestown Travel is why.

Charley has been handling my travel planning through Doylestown Travel for 15+ years now, and in addition to first pointing me to the resort that feels sort of like a second home (but with butlers and cocktails for the asking), he has saved me from making big, costly mistakes on more than one occasion when planning travel in many locations from the U. S.to Latin America to Europe. While the details are too complicated to write out, on the trip I just booked through Charley, from Baltimore to the Riviera Maya, he not only got us the oceanfront rooms we wanted-which various websites, including the resort's, initially said were sold out-but he saved us from booking those rooms (when they finally DID show as available) through the resort's website, and then showing up to find no rooms because of a glitch in the system that only he noticed, until he pointed it out, after multiple calls to the resort. Sometimes the trip planning takes 30 minutes; other times, like this time, he spends hours working out the details and making sure that everything we're asking for is locked down. Either way, he's going to stick with it until everything is perfect. You're not going to get that with Expediocity, let's call it: that cheap travel website. You're also going to reach Charley and he's going to help you figure it o ut and fix it when you call him from Mexico or the South of France or wherever you are when your flight is suddenly cancelled or when any of a hundred other things that can and do go wrong have, in fact, gone wrong.and you're not going to get that kind of help, either, from an Expediocity.

There is an assurance that comes with using a travel agent like Charley-because let's face it, not all travel agents are alike. Because of working with him, I always travel with a high degree of confidence and the knowledge that he (and Doylestown Travel in general) has my back. It has proven to be true time and time again.

An experienced travel agent can give you the benefit of that experience: knowing the best workarounds for things like limited flights to your destination or which hotel you just have to go to if real gourmet food is your jam to pretty much anything related to making your travel all you want it to be.

Add to that his great sense of humor, his amazingly skilled (I would even say gifted) way of working with the people at the airlines, hotels and so on (and somehow making them want to help him-and his clients-out even when they've started out with a big 'no' to whatever the question is), and how much he obviously relishes travel, and what you end up with is.well, it's Charley, and it's why you should use a travel agent (do I need to say it? I mean Charley) for your next trip, and the one after that, and on from there. He's a gem and a mensch and the exact guy you need to go to.

And just for the record, I am not even receiving a pat on the head for this review. I am writing it because he deserves it, and because he has been such a wonderful part of my traveling experiences for so long now, and I felt it was time to say so. Happy travels! I paid for travel insurance. The salesman stated if I paid so much, I would get a 100% refund in cash, in the event I needed to cancel for any reason. I ended up only getting about 60% back. Between the carrier, Apple and agent, I was given the run around when trying to get my refund. Another member on our trip still has not received a voucher for cancelation on her itinerary. This insurance carrier was suggested by the agency.

These guys are great! Always an awesome experience dealing with them. They have been fulfilling our travel needs for over 25 years and hit it out of the park every time.
