Dutch Haven Shoo-Fly Pie Bakery reviews
21Cute store, cute artwork, walked in and the guy behind the counter was busy on a rant about how people who aren't vaccinated are just not getting it because they "just don't want to be told what to do". It went on from there, it was just not a conversation wanted to be in or around. People's choices are none of his business (or mine) but I would never want anyone to think or feel like their personal choice made them selfish, and that was exactly what he was preaching. He didn't need my money. Several of us walked out.
My family and I have been visiting Dutch Haven for years. It's an awesome place to shop for everything from furniture to tee shirts. It's a must see. Don't forget to try the shoo fly pie!
Staff is super friendly and lets you try the pie before you buy it. Some of the stuff here isn't authentically amish, but if you look closely you can find what is and isnt made by them.
Super cute store!
Cute store with lots of gifts and crafts, got a nice painted wall hanging and a slice of the famous pie which was delicious and vegan! I definitely recommend stopping by this charming place when visiting the area
This store has a different vibe, it looks country and like something you might find at a boardwalk. I guess I’m not into the creepy looking stuff they sell, this world is already scary enough. The staff was nice and offered a sample of their pie.
We went on Sunday so since it it one of the only options it was very crowded. Their prices are higher than some of the other stores in the area but they are open Sunday so if you forgot something you can still get it before heading home. The shoo fly pie is the best I have had and worth stop just for that
The pie was indeed, awesome. Lots of cool souvenirs and friendly people. Highly recommend the witty shirts and magnets, lol
This is the best place to go for Shoo-fly pie
My family never leaves Pennsylvania without bringing a couple of these pies back for the rest of the family
The people that work there are super friendly
Love this place, whoever is behind the counter is always very pleasant to speak with. And all the furniture and nik-knacks are great.
This place has the best Shoo-Fly Pie, the name is off setting but it's really good! They will give u a sample that's how I got hooked, U have to heat it and have a Lil whip cream or vanilla ice cream with it. DELISH! They also have wooden furniture and some great jams, jellies, peppers, and relish. U have to visit to get the full understanding, but u should leave w/a pie!
Poor at best. My wife and I stopped to buy some local goods. We are from Lancaster and know what fresh home backed Amish goods are and this is not the place. The peach pie we bought was made with caned peaches. I can understand that in winter. This was peak peach season. The woo pie pies were stale and unsatisfactory. This is just a tourist trap for people who don not know anything about Amish baked goods. You can literately find better in Lancaster county any were else.
Felt like stepping into an alternate universe. The store was musty and run down, not just vintage and kitschy. The baked goods were unappetizing and the pie was warmed in a microwave. The sample we had was so flavorless I couldn't image how bland a full slice would be. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy with bugs in the urinal. No redeeming qualities to this place.
A surprising wonderland of a gift/ souvenir shop. Blew me away. In my 40-plus years of trips to Lancaster county from Delaware, how in the world did I overlook this place? I was astonished by both the quality & quantity of the products offered, esp from Central & South America. NO issue of almost empty store shelves.why? Because most of products ARE NOT from China.incredible. You made me so happy, esp as I got treasures for both myself & my "challenging" sister-in-law. Can't wait to come back with friends who know nothing about this place. Me & my companion had an especially memorable day exploring new incredibly beautiful areas of L. County, but the visit to your shop was the "icing" on the cake. Thank you!
The Shoofly pie was awesome. I do understand some of the negative comments though. I was purchasing an Amish hat that had a big sale sign on it to save 10 dollars. When at the register I was charged the regular price I questioned the young girl at the register and then was given an attitude by her actually she was pretty rude then the older gentleman started to give me a hard time telling me that they needed to make money and the sign was probably left up by accident. Pretty much giving me attitude and very rude. The girl at the register asked me if I wanted it or not so At this point I was angry and I blew up a little we paid for it and left. On the way to the car the older gentleman came out and said he was wrong and he’d pay me the difference back and that the sign was there. At this point I was like just forget it and we left. So I do understand some of the negative comments about this guy. The Shoofly pie was great, but the service was horrible. This was about a month or so ago.
Always a great stop. A nice assortment of.good to buy, as well as one of the first stops where Dutch baked goods can be bought
The best shoofly pie thus far. Not too sweet and not too molasses-y. Great with some ice cream. They even provide samples before you buy. Also nice souvenirs and trinkets to remind you of Amish things.
The gentleman working when we went there was very very rude. He doe not have any people skills and talks to you with an attitude and a smart mouth. I will not go back!
I had a terrible experience, went with my husband and 18 year old 16 year old both girls and my 13 year old son
My kids are very polite and very respectful,
We are walking around looking at the souvenirs
And this older man comes out of no place and approaches my 13 year old son I was a few feet away and so was my husband he told him he couldn't walk-around with a hockey sack and a walking stick that was for me for my Birthday, my son told him he was not alone and with both parents, he asked him for hockey sack back, and was very rude we where all then told to leave never again disgusting
I stopped in to grab a shoofly Pie on my way to my girlfriend's house, she has never had it before. The pie was excellent, almost as good as Pappy's! The store has all sorts of cute stuff to buy. I bought my girlfriend the cutest butterfly earrings. She loves them, as well as her first shoofly pie!
The shop was fine but be aware that they don't use molasses in their shoofly pie. If you read the ingredients it uses refiner syrup and corn syrup but no molasses. Apparently some people like it that way but to me that's the whole point of shoe fly pie so if that's what you're looking for I would go elsewhere.
