East Branch Brandywine Trailhead reviews
7 Most amazing railroad viaduct.
Historical landmarks. Old construction
From the 20's. The Bethlehem steel plant
A must see
My favorite trails in the Downingtown area. Great hiking paths, dog friendly, clean, beautiful!
A pedestrian bridge over the Brandywine Creek on the "Trolley Trail" was damaged as the remenants of hurricaine Ida passed through. The trolley line once ran from West Chester to Downingtown and Coatesville. PA. It was abandoned in 1929 and part of its right of way is now a trail.
If you bike up the Bradford Ave (across the street) a bit and turn off right into the woods when there’s a path there’s some really nice bike trails with a big natural bowl/ half pipe and a bunch of jumps and berms. Out where the old train line went through. Even if you don’t get back there the park itself has some nice smooth dirt and concrete trails for biking or running or whatever. Near the river and around the area. I def recommend biking there if you can.
2.5 mile paved trail good for when there has been a lot of recent rain and tou don't want to tear up the wooded trails.
Well kept trails, lots of parking at this trailhead compared to others along same trail. Usually low traffic on trail system no matter parking lot fullness (gets crowded at peak hours on weekends)
Accurate and easy to spot mile markers and trail markers. About 50/50 on sun/shade along the paved trail.
Bridge is a great place to stop for a photo, plenty of trash cans and benches along paved trail.
