East Broad Top Railroad reviews
16I have ridden the train several times. This past experience was during their Christmas train. It was such a magical time from start to finish. They have small warm fires around the property. Each car was decorated beautifully for the season. The staff, who are extremely friendly and informative, came through offering hot cocoa and cookies. The train travels out the “The Grove ”, where Santa gets on the train. He comes through the cars talking to each passenger and passing out a small gift to the children. The whole trip is about an hour. It was a fantastic time!
What a great experience for grand children who have never experienced a train ride more especially a steam locomotive
Anybody who loves trains have to take atleast one ride. Nice to experience what it was like back in the days. Make sure you get out there and support the EBT.
Great time with Mr and Mrs Santa Claus! The staff and crew members were always too! We will be back
This is simply a wonderful place to take the kids! Years ago we went on a Polar Express train with our older two. This year, we took the “Christmas in Coal Country” train; our kids are older so it was a different experience but the magic of the holiday season is alive and well at EBT! Cocoa and cookies, music on the train, a special visit to the North Pole and a visit with the big man himself; lovely ride, clean cars, friendly staff, well kept gift shop; the kids enjoyed writing their letters to Santa; so glad we could keep on with the tradition. Easy to get to once you reach Orbisonia; purchased tickets in the morning for this evening and was able to get five seats together.
The pumpkin patch train was organized very well. Plenty to do. Don't miss this railroad experience.
The very last time I was at East Broad Top Railroad was with the Penns Landing Trolley group and we made a trip out there with a stop at Shady Maple for breakfast and I just recently had joined the friends of the East Broad Top. And I can't believe how friendly everyone was. It was great to smell the coal smoke from 16 and i got Christened by the soot from 16. I really enjoyed the train trip and I'm looking forward to returning there again
Our toddler had a great time. He loved the train, the hot cocoa, and the cookies. He has talked every day for the last week about going back. The value is also spectacular for everything you get for such a low price
This place is amazing and it's only going to get better over time. A true step back in time to the days of mid-20th century railroads.
My 3yr. Old Step grandson loved the train ride, he's fascinated with Choo, Choo Trains, bummer they didn't have the kids male engineers hat kit available all was available was Pink, but he did get some souvenirs and some great pictures standing by Steam Engine #16 and coal tender with two of the personal, Conductor, Fireman, or the Engineer? The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, couldn't add photos, next time I take him, hopefully we can tour the engine house and repair areas
We got our pictures taken with Charlie Brown and Snoopy. My son got a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. We road the steam engine, trolley, and hay ride. From the food truck we bought burgers and fries. The whole experience was educating and fun. They will be getting ready for the holiday season next. Hoping to return with more people in December to see all the Christmas decorations and enjoy another ride.
Oh my goodness we had a great afternoon (despite the weather) on the Great Pumpkin Patch Express. A fun way to explore the beautiful fall colors and enjoy a day with the family. Oh the memories made. Thank you. Highly recommend.
Cool tour of the shops, ride on an old fashioned trolley and remodeled steam engine. Very interesting.
Wasn't that impressed.
Too much black coal smoke for my lungs.
Alot of stopping and starting.
It was a lovely fall day for a ride!
Great family outing or a railfan adventure. Be sure to take the optional tour of the locomotive maintenance shops where they use century old machines to repair and renovate the equipment.
We did The Great Pumpkin Patch Express, it was a beautiful day to see the fall foliage. The train ride could have been a little longer, because that was the highlight. We picked the closed car because you never know what the weather is going to do in October, and there was plenty of space and comfortable. There was lots to do once you made it to the pumpkin patch. I will admit the "pumpkin patch" itself a little sad. It wasn't an actual patch, just someone putting pumpkins in an empty field. Other then that it was a great experience. There was also enough parking and restrooms at the ticket station and Portypotties at the pumpkin patch.
