1 We were a team from Philadelphia, which is 70 miles away from the tournament fields in Lehigh Valley. All other tournament teams were much closer to the fields. Despite the fact Friday was a school day, with traffic in Philly you would need to leave at 3pm to get to the field in Lehigh Valley by 5pm. Nevertheless, the tournament organizers scheduled our Philadelphia team for a double header on Friday night - the first game starting at 6pm. Maybe the tournament organizers assumed our parents had no jobs and could just leave Philly whenever they wanted? Although tournament games are played on Saturday, because we had a double header on Friday night we had no games scheduled on Saturday - even though our team was much farther away than any other team. We barely made the game time on Friday night and had no opportunity to properly warm up.
I can only conclude this unfair schedule was deliberate. No one is that ignorant. If you are a team that is not near Allentown, DO NOT play in these tournaments. It is a hometown screw job for teams that aren't local. The organizers of these tournaments should be ashamed of themselves. What a disgrace.
