Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Castle PA

DO NOT let your loved ones stay here! They yell at the elderly, tell them to shut up! And sends them to their room in an ugly manner! They have ZERO respect to the elderly and should honestly be shut down!

Applied for the housekeeping position. They wasted my time knowing they had no intention of hiring me. The interview was a joke at best. The guy barely said 3 sentences to me and couldn't be bothered to conduct a fair interview. Yet the woman who showed up before me got shown around and everything. Probably discrimination but I don't really care. Kinda thankful I dodged a bullet on this job.

Filthy and rundown. My relative has a Trach and feeding tube. Our nurse was not sanitary with the equipment nor her practices when treating my relative. If the Trach tubing fell on the ground she wouldn't change it or clean it just slap it right back on. The Trach isn't even 2 weeks old.it's not healed yet and will probably get infected now. The owner or corporate should be absolutely ashamed. I wish I could post pictures to this review. Do not check on residents enough, especially someone coming out of the hospital. While there, the gentleman next door was very upset that he never got a dinner tray.that was 8pm! Food trays were sitting in the hallway not even covered. I have been an Aide 20 years.this is the worst place I have seen by far. I am truly appalled. PLEASE do not send your loved one here!
Update: the initial review was day 1, this is day 2: my relative had fallen out of bed through the night and told me they laid on the floor for hours until someone found them. Noone sent them out for xrays and I questioned nursing who said they were “fine”. I called the ambulance myself because the nurse would not send them out. After being seen at the ER my relative had a BROKEN HIP! I refused to send them back there and forced the hospital to send them somewhere else for rehab!

If I Could leave no stars for this facility I would. The day we walked in to this place we knew we immediately had to find a new place for our father. Absolutely and completely filthy, the residential smoking area fills the entire first floor with cigarette smell and smoke.
The floors and walls were covered in urine and the beds had piles of sediment. The photos we took are absolutely horrendous. The state our father was in, we could not move him that day without a new facility, so we had to clean the room ourselves. We also reported this to the health department as no one should live here like this. We had to wait over a weekend for a new referral, we rarely left. We did leave later in the evenings and this is when he was then left unattended seated, my father is completely paralyzed on his left side after a sever stroke.and can’t support himself. So he was left in a bedside chair with no supervision and no way to help himself. No way to call for a nurse.and he fell. He broke his Arm and elbow, he broke 4 ribs severely, and he smashed his face and head into the floor. He was left like that until someone found him. Hours went by that night as he cried for help after being put back in bed. He begged to go to the ER. Finally after we called and talked to him and called the desk we were told and he was then taken to the hospital. My father died 2 weeks ago of a slow brain bleed that never stopped after this fall, he was in severe pain every day trying to recover from their neglect and severe mistreatment. Please if you have another option.find it. This is they worst facility I have ever seen, experienced, and dealt with. Should be shut down. I work through Clipboard, and recently just picked up my first shift at Edison Manor. The employees were very welcoming and helpful. I worked the first shift, so I can only speak for those I worked with. With that being said, all of the employees were very attentive to the residents, and very kind and professional to those they were taking care of. I felt welcomed immediately, and that is something that doesn’t happen often. I can’t wait to pick up my next shift!

This is the worst place I've ever seen. The employees are nasty and uncaring to the patients. They don't charge bedding very often, or residents for that matter. The place is filthy and the smell is enough to make you gag. This place needs shut down. It's falling apart and no one in the administration office cares. I have a family member on the third floor and I took these of the third floor. The residents don't deserve to live in this filth or with this type of broken building.

The only reason they even got one star is because I had to pick one to be able to write a review. And with that being said please do not put anyone you love into this nursing. First of all if the staff is not nodding out at their work station then they are to busy talking on their phones or other staff members to help you out. If staff does help you they are very cocky and rude the entire time. Also why in the world does a nursing allow every staff member to go out on 12 smokes during their shift ALL at the same time.there is literally no one available for an emergency cuz everyone is outside gossiping about their patients.there is literally 4 staff that is pleasant to deal with. If you care about your loved one do not let them go to Edison nursing home.
