El Merengue Restaurant poconos reviews
17THIS HANDS DOWN IS THE BEST DOMINICAN RESTAURANT IN ALLL THE POCONOS! Being from NYC I know GOOD food! The flavors is like they have wela in the back putting her heart and soul into everything. Living here for the past 5 years I FINALLY found a spot I can call home. Y mas que soy DOMINICANA YO SE LO QUE ES COMIDA BUENA. If you are ever in this area you NEED to come eat here. My husband and I have been back 2 times in the last 3 days!
This was our first time there after driving by it for a few years. We ordered a chicken and a beef empanada plus pepper steak, chicharones with yellow rice and beans (red and black). The portions were just as large as the flavor. Prices were very fair as well. This place is an amazing little spot. We will be back for sure and I can't wait to try more of the menu.
Absolutely authentic food. The prices are reasonable and the amount of food they give is worth every penny. Their wait times are the only reason it's not 5 stars but otherwise, if you're in the Poconos, you have to try.
Two different times the food was cold and salty.i politely told the waitress with the owner there and he never came to me and apologized.go to recon it's 4 miles on the left.much better food
Stay far away. 50 dollars for a pound of old salty meat. No sides not even a scoop of rice included. It was criminal. The amount of salt was actually scary and I have never thought that about any food a restaurant has served me in my life. The only reason there would be that much salt is if they were trying to preserve the meat as long as possible. It was not seasoning.just salt. If you even have a hint if high blood pressure, do not eat here. The service was extremely lax. There was just no redeemable qualities in this place. I'm still reeling from the cost of this horrible food. Always willing to pay for a good meal and am no means cheap but I feel robbed.
Absolutely a must go to Good Eats! I am a New Yorker and in my time in PA I had yet to find an authentic quality owned Spanish restaurant. That was until I stepped inside El Merengue Restaurant. It is a cute spot for family and friends with great Dominican decor and most importantly FOOD. I really liked the use of the space and how clean it was. It was spacious and cozy at the same time. The moment you walk in the staff is really nice and instantly makes you feel at home. You can sit in or take out. They also do catering which is cool. The food was a 10/10. My partner and I tried the steak, chicken, fried plantains and beans. Simple but easy to mess up. Everything was Perfection. Not a single complaint. Definitely a must go.
Food was amazing! Had so much flavor. Service was also great! Very friendly and outgoing crew! We'll definitely be coming back.
Food is very expensive, I brought a large white rice with steak combo nothing else for $47.00 this is outrageous for that kind of price for food. They had no prices on the food they don’t even have a menus, and the make their own price just so they can charge customers whatever they want to charge them, and no place to park your car. Never again.
My husband, son, and I stopped on for lunch. We shared guava and cheese empanadas, a Cuban sandwich, and a wonderfully tasty dish called Yaroa which is a Dominican street food with a plantain base, ground chicken, cheese topped with a drizzle of ketchup.
Ordered for take-out. When I arrived my food was sold to another person. Who does that? If you offer first come first serve, don’t say you are a take-out/pickup restaurant! Very disappointing!
El Merengue has delicious food! We have yet to be disappointed. If you are in the Poconos, stop bye!
Everything is great at this place. The food, the attention, the atmosphere, the decorations. I loved it
Had mofongo w seafood. Hubby had seafood soup. Also had pernil and chicken empanadas. Delicious. Little gem. Loved everything. Will return
It's not good. I was told things that were available had run out. It was salty, race was hard and they meat was greasy and the portions were skimpy just a load of rice
Very tasty food, truly Spanish food with a Central American twist. Service is fast, knowledgeable, and with a smile. Prices are very reasonable and plates are full of food, not decoration.
You want authentic Caribbean food? This is your spot! Great taste, service and atmosphere!
Family of 6 (3 generations) went to El Merengue restaurant. Authentic Spanish food, and yes if you like Puerto Rican food, it was Delicious. Service was very good as was the atmosphere. This was a pleasant surprise that we had no idea was in the vicinity of Shawnee Poconos.
