Had the Steak Chilaquiles and two of the same drink that I think was all alcohol loaded except bitters, very nice! 1st time there. Everything was great! Would definitely return.

Nice place. Great service. The steak tacos were good, but the meat was a bit hard to chew on. But the churros were delishhhh. They make it from scratch, and the dipping sauce takes about 7 hours to make.

Very friendly staff. Absolutely must try their rotating margheritas. We lucked out with Guava and it was so good we ended up getting 2 pitchers. Food was overall good

El Rey was a grand time all the way through. I ordered a margarita and the short rib enchiladas, at the recommendation of our waitress. Smart move - both were delicious. The place was packed while we were there, but the service was great. I recommend, if you're trying to have dinner, especially on a busy Sunday weekend, get a reservation. El Rey is on OpenTable, which made it super easy for our party.

I'm loving the outdoor seating and how colorful and comfy it is - I certainly hope Center City district let's them keep it!

Food was really good and our waiter was AMAZING! But we ordered a pitcher of Margaritas and it was filled to the brim with complete ice. Very disappointing for $75 for the pitcher and we were only able to get about a drink and a half a piece out of it. We did speak to two managers and although one offered to take a little off the bill, we felt they were both being dismissive stating that- "this is what it is" for their pitchers which was a bit rude, condescending, and inappropriate. We understand COVID has had a true unfortunate impact on most if not all businesses, but this was simply not fair nor reasonable for customers. After speaking with both managers, we simply suggested to give that extra that they would remove from the bill (which was not much) to our waiter who again, was AMAZING! It was more of just being honest, transparent, and upfront about what you're getting before hand and making it right because a pitcher full of ice for a margarita for $75 is by far unacceptable. I live and frequent restaurants downtown and have NEVER experience this at all. So, just be mindful when visiting for your next visit to El Rey! ~Enjoy & Safe Outings:)

I love this place so much! Went for happy hour and their deals are amazing. The food is very yummy and the margaritas are some of the best I’ve had. Love the decorations and cleanliness. The wait staff was the best part. So accommodating and attentive. Anything we needed we had in a timely manner and everyone who worked there seemed very personable and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

Good Mexican spot in Philly. Happy hour froM 4-5: 30 with $6 margs and $2 off tacos.

Had the carnitas tacos which were delicious, the carnitas were very juicy and cooked perfectly. The guacamole was good with house made tortilla chops. Their margaritas were decent as well, and for $6 during happy hour quite a deal!

I used to work here from 2017-2018 and I loved the food so much that I still ate my comp meal every shift and continued to come to dine up until dec 2019 before the pandemic. I returned for the first time yesterday and it was very disappointing the changes that were made. I do have to say the workers are all very nice and accommodating! This review has nothing to do with service and more with the changes to the menu and recipes. The happy hour is not really a good deal (which is fine and definitely understandable) but the food changes were more upsetting. The nachos had salsa with carrots and celery and I definitely agree with many reviews saying there is a lack in Mexican flavor. I also feel like the margaritas were lighter on the tequila, and a lot of my menu favorites were removed. With how much the prices went up I was hoping that the flavor wouldn't be compromised: (

The food was not good.: (. We ordered the fish tacos and the fish was not well seasoned. Maybe they hoped the tiny sauce on top would help but it was bland. Same thing with the guac and salsa. UNSEASONED. The margaritas were good. Not too strong and not too good. But y'all need to get these seasonings together.: (.

Usually I'm a fan of this place. Corn is great! And the margaritas are guddd. But I just had a bad time with the queso fundido last time. It was too slaty
