El Vez reviews
19The service is amazing! We got the mixed macho nachos and they were amazing. The rice was okay, I got a side of green rice to try but it honestly lacked favor. The presentation of the plates wasn’t great. The meat tasty, I got lamb and my friend got carne asada. But the sauce wasn’t my cup of tea. Honestly for the price it was served poorly. But big props to the service everyone is so nice.
Great food. We had the taco combo with shrimp and steak. BiG portion. The first bite of the tacos was so yummy! I also had guava mijito and Vez margaritas. They were both great. I would go back again and try other stuff that I didn't get to try.
I had high expectations for this Stephen Starr restaurant but it dismally missed the bar, primarily due to the service. Our server Wendy was unwelcoming from the beginning and had a huge attitude throughout our dining experience. Upon simply asking for an update on the status of our entrees, she seemed visibly irritated. We even noticed her rolling her eyes as she left our table, signaling her frustration to another nearby server. This is not the way to treat paying customers. Nonetheless, the food was good - especially the steak tacos, nachos, and speciality guacamole. The drinks were strong and well prepared - especially the blood orange Margarita. If you are a lover of Mexican food like us, I highly recommend you check out the new Starr restaurant “LMNO. ” Both the food and service are exceptional there.
Entree was very good. Cheese sauce was so so. Salsa was lacking. For the prices I expected better.
First time coming here with recommendations and was very happy I did. Staff was friendly and nice. I ordered take out. Based on the food, I am sure in dining experience would be way better. Food was packaged well. Tried the original guacamole and for someone who loves spicy, I enjoyed the kick I got from the jalapenos. The mahi mahi tacos were delicious! Also tried a side of corn on the cob which was really yummy. I would love to come back and try other options off the menu. Did not take pics because I just started eating. Lol that is how good everything looked and tasted. Highly recommend anyone visiting Phili to come here.
One of the best experiences I ever had. Amazing service, amazing food and lovely vibe.
We had Chips & Salsa with Tito's Santana. For main course it was Beans Enchiladas (Veggie) and Char Grilled Steak Tacos, sides with Classic, Pineapple Margarita and Virgin Margarita.
It was delicious.

Great Mexican restaurant. We had the Taco El Cabon for 2, Chicken & Shrimp and It was delicious, just enough for 2. Also I had the corn off the cob and it was DELICIOUS. Will definitely recommend and visit again
Tasty. Would've preferred two large tostada's rather than three mini for the price. Mojito inconsistent
Food and drinks are always good, especially the margs. I had gotten tacos the last time I was here and they were flavorful and delicious.
The enchiladas and the machos nachos were some of the best I've ever had. This place was crowded on a Friday night, but we were seated easily and everything went well. Probably the best Mexican food in the Center City area.
This place is in a happening location but the value for your meal is lacking. Three small steak tacos for $19? Really, with no rice or bean? Spanish people would not put up with that! The ladies room was stinky and had missing toilet paper and door locks! And had to use a communal dirty sinks in the basement! Never be back. Making a burger at home right now since the tacos were skinny diet portions for a big price!
Had the burger. Requested with bacon as add on but it was a too hard. It was tasty and filling otherwise. Good enough without the bacon. I believe it was the only burger on the menu. Good service.
Visited for a late lunch yesterday and was really glad we chose this restaurant. We sat outside by choice, and even though it was chilly the heaters worked great. We ordered a guava mojito, tequila flight, original guacamole and chips, steak tacos, mahi mahi tacos, and grilled corn on the cob. Everything was delicious! The guacamole is a little pricey but we got a lot of guac and chips for the price. The portion size of the tacos was a lot smaller, but with the combination of the sides it was a filling meal. If I were in the area again, I would revisit this restaurant.
Food and drinks are amazing. Very nice interior design. Our server Kevin was also amazing. Highly recommend guava mojitos
We loved it. Recommended to us. Easy in and out. Service excellent - fast friendly. Cozy and great Mexican! Be sure to get nacho app!
Great food! Tasty, strong, well-mixed drinks! Friendly, courteous, and responsive service! And all at a good price for Center City!
El Vez in Center City Philadelphia is one of the best restaurants to go for a date night with Your partner or just to have drinks with friends. This place has it ALL.the margaritas are definitely one of the reasons why we love this place but also the food, the ambiance, the people. Highly recommend you wouldn't not been dessapointed, no Metter what day of the Week you go you would certainly have a great Experience?
The food was good when I visited last night, but for the price, I would have expected slightly larger portions or more sides. To my surprise and chagrin, my rather expensive taco order did not come with any rice or beans.
The other quandary, is that while the food was cooked to the ideal temperature and doneness, it seemed to lack much spice. I'm used to far spicier and more flavorful food when I visit upscale Mexican restaurants. I can overlook the lack of sides included as me just not reading the menu carefully enough; but the lack of spice is more unfortunate.
Still: The food was perfectly prepared and served in a timely manner by extremely courteous servers. That, to me, is a huge part of the experience at any upscale restaurant; and El Vez has that perfected.
Maybe we just had an off meal but we didn’t find it to be particularly amazing or warrant the price. The best part of the meal was the guac and cheese dip. We will give it another try when we are back in town next fall.
