Ephrata Cloister reviews
13Take the guided tour. If you don't, you get limited access to the buildings inside. Interesting history and beautiful grounds.
We had a wonderful visit and did a self-guided tour. The pamphlet and signs were full of information. Beautiful place with a lot of history, really impressively preserved.
This was such a cool stop. We took the guided tour and seriously learned so much, but walking through the architecture was the best part. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable about more than just the cloister itself; he gave us so much information on Pennsylvania.
There was plenty to keep kids occupied too with a scavenger hunt that earned them a nice iron on badge at the end.
There was a video that kicked off the tour and plenty of original artifacts to check out in the museum. We also took a walk through the surprisingly fair-priced gift shop which carries books, toys, ink and quills, replica musket ammo, wooden pieces, and much more.
The Cloister Restaurant is directly across the street, which I also recommend, and the Ephrata park is a short distance up the road to make this an all day trip.
Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful and this was a cheap admission. No regrets here. Thanks for a fun day!
The Ephrata Cloister was fantastic. I had no idea it would be so interesting. I actually had no idea what it was. Interesting part of Pennsylvania history. The tour was worth taking. The guide was very knowledgeable.
Took the tour and explored the buildings. Good stop for those who are interested in the history of the area.
My husband and I visited on Saturday, June 10th. It was not busy. The rich history of this area is fascinating. Doug, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I recommend the guided tour. It is well worth the time. Visit the museum inside the visitor center first to give you an idea of what life was like there. Wear good walking shoes. I don't recommend this for young children.
What an amazing preservation of a piece of history that hardly anyone knows of. Tour guide was outstanding. Gift shop is top-notch. Great experience especially on a nice sunny day.
What a lovely place to snap some great photos on our wedding morning! We got permission to take outdoor photos here with a charge of $75. The grass was neatly trimmed and the buildings were in excellent condition.
Another fascinating peek into the past! I like putting the real buildings and place to what I've been told in history books! It's quite old and cute.
My family and I went for a quick visit on charter day. The whole was very intriguing and interesting. There is also a visitor information center and a small Museum attached. The parking was also free and there is also a museum store/gift shop. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and helpful. I will most likely return for a full day ticket.
Great food and a very sneaky tourist attraction if you want no crowds but local people. It also is wheelchair assessable!
So glad to have stumbled upon this extremely interesting town history and visual experience.
Went on the candlelight tour and it was a fantastic adventure in history and immersive theatre. 10/10 would recommend, (if you're into this this of stuff!)
