First Oriental Market Inc reviews
32Best place to go to for fish, I know they don't have to but I just wish 1 person spoke good English.
First Oriental Market not too busy nowadays. I guessed too much competition and a bit pricey compare to competitor in a few blocks away. But back then this Supermarket is busy.
Their Meat Department is the best compare to others Supermarket in around South Philly.
Really great. Has what you're looking for, including many things I've been having trouble finding at many other markets. Chill and spacious feel with the high ceilings + low shelves.
Wide variety of produce, and great selection for meats such as chicken wings, beef, and even pork uteruses! But bring a friend that can speak the language. Or make sure you have a phone with decent translation software. Otherwise you're probably going to have some difficulty finding exactly what you need depending on what type of product it is.
Interesting place to go; the wife is Asian, & after 10 years, I'm still asking about the rare, & different items that are available there. Very clean, friendly staff. Nice place to go.
I see lots of people talking about the staff and rude treatment. They should know that's how they run things. The staff have been there for years and don't have time to be nice to you, it's not going to change anytime soon. They're Asian elderlies, what did you expect? As for the shopping experience, they change the layout too frequently, especially the freezer section. Products go on and off shelfs randomly so there's never a consistent selection. Their range of products isn't as extensive, more focused on Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.
It’s the nearest Asian market from my apartment and they have a good selection of products. I have great experience shopping here. The only concern is the market looks a little outdated and sometimes the products are hard to find on the shelf because they change the layout. But no major downside of this market.
Staff is incredibly rude, especially if you go anywhere in the last hour of them being open, but the meat counter guys are pretty nice for the most part. Not the dirtiest market in Philly. Definitely best Asian grocery store on Washington Ave if you're not looking for very niche products. Just don't go there expecting to be treated well. Find what you need and get out. ALWAYS avoid cashier lane #1.
Here i can find asian goodies and asian veggies and fruits that regular supermarket don't have.
Nice selection of vegan and vegetarian items, though you’ll have to weed through the omnivore items to find them. Service is okay. If you spend a certain amount, you get a free gift at checkout. Nice touch. Some items are pricey, though definitely much cheaper than PoSharp Store (online) or Amazon. Produce and fruits a bit pricey, too. Not bad overall, though. I visit again and again.
Big Asian market with a large selection of fruit, veggies, and all sorts of Asian foods.
Do you like Asian markets? Then go to this one.
Basically like everyone else stated, they're super friendly. They have a selection of items that's to be expected of a local neighborhood market, plus a giant wine selection. Prices are lower than the average San Francisco places (normal anywhere else). Anyway, couldn't pass up the opportunity to give this place 5 stars when it deserves it.
Dishonest cashier. Poor meat quality. I had a terrible experience when I came here. When you purchase a lot of items make sure to check your receipt. When I left the store I noticed an extra charge for lychee for $6 something which I had not purchased. Lychee is a fruit and has to be weighed. It was clearly something I did not purchase. I will not frequent this store again. Head over to the other asian supermarkets down on wash ave instead.
Good selection of all asian products. Helpful staff. Good selection of Thai ingredients, which are not always easy to find.q
An overwhelming variety of, high quality products are available here. You can definitely find whatever you are looking for those great recipes you find online.
Small but has most of what I get in the supermarket sized stores in Philly. Owners are extremely nice and helpful. They have told me how to prepare some of the more unfamiliar ingredients. Good pre made Dim Sum, Vietnamese hoagies etc.
First oriental is a decent Asian market. The produce and bakery are good. They have some hard to find Thai foods also. If you are in the area it's worth checking out.
Best Asian grocery store I've been to. Huge selection of produce and imports from many Asian countries. Great prices, easy to park, and they give you something free if you spend $50.
Meat section stinker. Kind of macabre how the fish tanks looks under the ice counter where the cut up fish are
Love shopping at this store. I have been shopping here since they open. I have shop at other store but this in my favorite.
