Museum Fonthill Castle reviews
19Fonthill Castle is not only a museum but a scenic and majestic location for a wedding. The farm-to-table food by Jeffrey A. Miller Catering takes the event to another level.
One of a kind experience. If you're in the Philadelphia area make the trip up to Doylestown to see this incredibly unique and memorable castle. You should buy tickets in advance.
This place is gorgeous and very cool to see in person. I was here working as staff representing BMW during the beerfest fundraiser for the Castle. It was a great event! Good food, nice guests, cool tunes played by live band and very nice folks running the show. So grateful to be a part of, help out and experience. A must see location in Doylestown! Visit the castles other half- the Mercer Museum too while you're in town! Just on the other side of town. It is a great art museum!
Went there with a tour, the guide Diane is extremely knowledgeable and knows also a lot of very interesting anecdotes on Henry Chapman and the historical events related to his family! The tour was not boring at all and I really appreciated it covered most of the building. The castle is so beautiful, outside and inside, I definitely recommend to visit it, some of the rooms are breathtaking. Went there also for the beer fest, amazing food and drinks, great music and fun! Will be back!
I loved the castle, it is small but it has a lot to see, beautiful pottery and decorations. We take the tour. The staff is friendly and informative. There are 44 rooms in Fonthill including 10 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms and 18 fireplaces. Highly recommended
The tour guide was very interesting and thorough, the tour lasted an hour and was so so cool! Lovely history and property! Definitely a lot of stairs and tight spaces, a little stuffy in the heat of summer but not as bad as I thought! I would recommend buying tickets on ahead of time!
This is a wonderful place to visit. My only complaint is that, of the 44 rooms, you only get to see 14! I also don't understand why they mow so much of the fields. Planting some areas with wildflowers would be more historically appropriate, environmentally friendly, and would save money to ensure that this historic resource remains accessible to the public.
Interesting place to see. The tour guide was great! He knew a lot of info about the place & the architect/ owner/ builder. I was impressed.
It's by tour only. $15 per person arrive on time. They are prompt you don't want to be left behind. It's definitely worth the money
Really cool and unique place. We loved the tour of the castle. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Such stunning tile artwork and unique architecture. There is something to look at on every inch of the house. So worth a trip from Philadelphia. Just book tickets online in advance.
I loved it. The staff were genial and the guide very knowledgeable and polite. He had no problem with one of the guests translating to her friends in Russian. Groups were 10 folks so lots of personal attention. What a great place.
Great castle! Tour is worth it. It was great seeing all the fantastic tile designs. Amazing! His personality and the love of his dogs shows!
Wonderful hour-long tour, very interesting. The tour guides are impressively knowledgeable, and of course friendly.
The only reason this is not five stars is an hour tour is not long enough, and if it's hot they limit where you go in the castle. There should be an option that's longer and all inclusive! This castle is definitely medieval architecture brought to Pennsylvania by a man who loved his tiles, lol. Fascinating home and story, and well worth a visit. I enjoyed the tour and both guides were excellent, as stated the only negative is it wasn't long enough and I didn't get to see the entire Castle which I would prefer.
Staff was friendly and fun. The castle itself was absolutely gorgeous. Would love to come back again.
I highly recommend this tour. Our tour guides were really great. The decorative tiles are awesome.
Unique castle. Felt a little rushed because the tours are one hour. Would've liked to spend more time in the rooms. It was very interesting.
Beautiful castle with great staff! Paul at the visitors center was superb in his customer service and understood my lateness (drove over 70 miles). Timed Tickets are a must for tours of the castle. The grounds around the castle are beautiful. Nancy C.and Berit did an awesome job conducting the one hour tour! They interacted with the children, keeping them engaged in the history of the castle. Check website for special discounts on tickets.
Great Day Trip! Stage was amazing and very accommodating. I said WOW to every room I walked into.
