Fort Hunter Conservancy reviews
14Trails are a little confusing. Private property signs everywhere. We parked in the parking lot and some man was pretty rude even though we weren’t on his property. Maybe this park should be closed if the people who live near by will be jerks. Seriously don’t recommend. At least wait a few years for the backwoods weird people to pass on or move.
Trails are nice and clear but 0 trail markers. Map only showed a small portion of the trails.
Worth visiting. It is little hard to navigate the trail and private property in every direction
This was my 1st time here. In other pictures I've seen people get to a point where there's a swing at a certain peak of the trail. Well after hiking up and up I never saw that. The tree makers seemed to have ceased very early on. So that was a disappointment. Anywho, this is definitely a moderate/hard hike depending which way you go.
It's not well posted and therefore not enjoyable. Did not know where to enter back on to trail once I reached the power lines. Map was confusing because the power line section wasn't in scale with the trail.
A lovely spot tucked away behind Camp Riley. There is a trail there but it is hard to find because the red and white markers have faded with time. Worth the effort!
Bring the boots and water. Over a mile climb up at almost 900ft elevation gain. Beautiful overlook from the top
Most trails are unmarked. Great if you know where you are going. Watch for snakes in the power line area.
Love this place! Quiet and beautiful with lots of wildlife! I encountered a bear myself once! The view at the top is AMAZING!
Pros: maybe the best view in the Harrisburg area- with a swing on the power line at the very top! (and a boat too but hey whatever you think you need)
Cons: getting to the top is horribly marked and overgrown. Because much of it is below power lines the trail is full of loose stones and it’s very easy to lose your footing and fall into the thorny brush because it is not well maintained.
Nice park / trail system. As a somewhat experienced hiker, I will say the paths weren't marked clearly, but that wasnt a huge problem. There was a lot of overgrowth, and fallen trees. Still a fun time, great rewarding Vista and super fun hike / rock scramble.
When you get to the top of the hill under the powerline, this is one of the best views in Harrisburg
Awesome hiden gem in the Harrisburg area. Great views. However, the trail is not well maintained and get really overgrown during the summer months.
The unspoiled wilderness here is amazing - but beware the trails are poorly marked.
Luckily it's not a large area, so it's always possible to have some idea of where you are.
