Great view of the river. The trees are starting to overtake the view. Great place to sit in your car (or at any of the many chairs) and have lunch.

We stopped by for a tour of the mansion and were very impressed! Our docent really knew the history and held our interest.

Went for a wine and jazz festival. The rain didn't stop us from having a great time. Great entertainment! Plenty of parking and the grounds were very clean. Kudos to the people responsible for parking and the ease of keeping great crowd control.

This was a very beautiful park. Along my route to the York area, I stopped for a break to stretch my legs. I felt a lot of positive vibes from this side spot off the river. It was very clean and seemed to be around friendly folks doing weekend picnics or whatever.

I am so glad I found this park. I was looking for the covered bridge which was great plus I loved the flowers.

Don't pay any attention to the posted hours on the web site. Sunday hours are posted noon to 4: 30 PM. We drove a long way to get here on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, there was a large sign "Private Event" and no admittance. Apparently if a Harrisburg politician want to use it on the day you are planning to attend, you are out of luck.

Nice park. Plenty of tables. Access to restrooms reasonable. Play grounds for kids. Open space for Frisbee, etc.

Fascinating place to tour! Recommend doing a picnic here for the view, water, train, perfect! Only downside is there is only 1 pavilion with tables by the water.

We love visiting Fort Hunter. Both the Mansion and the park are nestled along the Susquehanna River. Both Queen Annika and Count Zakula enjoy these Dauphin County trips as well.

Beautiful location is great for walks, picnics, and photos. Lots of parking but tight parking, so I wouldn't recommend trying to fit a dually in the parking lot.

The facilities here are nice but the ALL IMPORTANT view of the under appreciated Susquehanna River is non existent!

Cut those pesky trees down so park enthusiasts have an unobtrusive view of an absolutely beautiful river! Sheesh, it's a jungle out there.

You make all birders go across the river to the Marysville side to view the wildlife on the river. Your side is much much nicer, please consider having a chainsaw massacre.

Nestled along the picturesque Susquehanna River, Fort Hunter Mansion in Harrisburg offers visitors a delightful glimpse into the region's rich history. I recently had the pleasure of exploring this beautifully preserved mansion, and it proved to be a charming experience.

The moment I arrived, I was greeted by the mansion's stately presence, exuding a sense of elegance and grandeur. Stepping inside, I found myself transported to a bygone era. The guided tour provided a wealth of knowledge about the mansion's origins and its significance in Pennsylvania's history. The period furniture and decor further enhanced the immersive experience

The knowledgeable guide shared captivating stories and anecdotes about the mansion's previous inhabitants, painting a vivid picture of the lives they led. From the original Fort Hunter settlers to the wealthy families who called it home.
