Gaeta's Tomato Pies reviews
15Best tomato pie I've ever had! Don't risk is with pizza joints that hesitate when you request a tomato pie go to the pros. Sometimes hard to get a hold of at shop rite (they tend to sell out quickly). Great service and always freshly made in store.
Native New Yorker (30 years) I had a dozen different kinds of tomato pie near me. I have a favorite local near me in philly these last 30. Decided to try Gaetas. Different. Exceptional and worth a 20min ride. Ate half the pie on the way home!
I often take my friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I visit this place often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the cooking is tasty and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative.always when we visit this place we have a splendid time. I recommend this place with pleasure.
When he told me a large was $24 I was almost regretting ordering it. However once I held the box and felt the weight, I knew I got my money's worth not only in quantity but definitely in quality! I could have gotten a medium. This tomato pie is delicious and they are so close to my house. I'm definitely going back. As others said, order 1 hour ahead. No delivery.
Best tomato pie in entire area. Have been eating this pie since the 50's when it was called Scaleas.
This is the best tomato pie. The others don’t even come close. Going back it used to be Scalea’s Pizza in Germantown. Same recipe. Should be Best in Philly every year!
Still has that original taste from the days it was operating out of Germantown as Scalea's. If you enjoy tomato pie then this is the place to go.
Stopped into Gaeta's on my way home, after a day of trying different pizza joints. I bought a small, plain tomato pie (six squares, $8), then got talking to the friendly guy running the store for a while. He alone made it worth going back!
There is no place to eat inside, so I took my pie back to my car parked on Castor Avenue and ate a few slices while standing there. The tomato pie squares (slices) were served warm. The sweet sauce was alive with tomato flavor and made it difficult to not eat more! There was no cheese on this particular version, but the combination of flavorful sauce and thin, crispy crust made it the perfect way to end a day!
Definitely make it a point to give Gaeta's a try, and be sure to say Hi to the owner!
Gaeta has been a staple for as long as I remember in the northeast.
Never tried it up until recently, and sure enough I hate myself for not
doing so.
Great pies. Excellent flavor and super fresh dough. Bright notes in the sauce.
I Loved them both.
Hard to pick a favorite between the two, so I will just keep getting both.
Delicious Tomato Pie. Sweet Sauce. Perfectly seasoned with just the right crust. You can eat it hot or cold!
Been eating here since i was about 10 and I'm 39 honestly hands down the best pizza in philadelphia
Great tomato pies always just remember to order 1 he ahead as it takes time to make greatness been eating them for years as well as my parents when they were scalis on Germantown. Tip if you do not finish while pie leave out room temp don't put in fridge it is safe to leave out and does not dry out when u leave it out. BEST TOMATO PIE YOU CAN GET IN THIS WHOLE COUNTRY
My parents grew up in Germantown eating this tomato pie, and it had always been a special treat. I remember there being what seemed like a endless supply at all the Germantown Boys Club reunions.
Most delicious tomato pie in Philly or anywhere else I ever been for that matter. Same recipe for over 50 years and just as good as it was back then. Just understand u can't grab this in ten min like a corner store pizza shop you need to call ahead at least an hour because it takes time to prepare and make. Once u get it home if you don't finish it all the first day feel free to leave it out for the next day. You don't have to refrigerate it and putting it in the fridge it actually does not taste as good next day. I hope they are around for another 50 years!
Greta's is the best Tomato Pie in the city, lots of delicious sauce, blend of spices and olive oil and crunchy excellent crust. No frills bakery, you place your order and walk in and it's ready for you in all its glory. Friendly staff and the prices are good. This little hidden gem in the northeast is a best kept secret.
