Geno’s Steaks reviews
27Definitely one of the best cheesesteak places in Philly.a bit of a tourist trap, but nonetheless, a required pligrimage for any cheesesteak fanatic.
They were ok. If you want a good one the Blue and Grey Bar and Grill in Gettysburg are so much better.
The steaks at Geno's are OK, and Pat's are OK too. Be honest with yourself the food isn't the real reason you are choosing Geno's, it's the South Philly experience, the people watching the mystique of it all. Get it Wit Whiz so you can say you had it the traditional way. It'll come on a soft bun with cheese whiz, thinly sliced steak and onions. There are other options but this is what you waited in line for. Actually my unpopular opinion is that the fries at Geno's are probably better than the cheesesteak. Get a shirt for yourself or the kids while you are there, it's part of the experience.
I was expecting some really good meat but it was ehhhh. Not really flavored at. I will keep coming back to try different ones.
Great steak sandwich! Visited on October 9,2018. If your looking for an authentic philly steak sandwich this is the place to go. If you’re picky and want to compare buy 1 here and look across the street and get 1 from Pats and do a taste test yourself. Outdoor seating. Parking is limited but we were able to find a spot to park for 20 minutes while we ate.
My first "correct" Philly cheese steak. I think the whiz makes it to be honest. Geno's was quick, cash only and limited seating but there's plenty of standing space.
Not bad. Too generic for my taste. I drove all the way to philly because of Geno’s, but there are other places in philly to get better cheese steaks
All I can say is wow! This was my first visit in nearly 10 years and it was a complete throwback in time. The “cheesesteak wit” was as good as it was the first time I had one. Highly recommended to those who visit Philadelphia.
Delicious. Consistent. Clean. Always open. Ignore the tons of people who will say "Pat's and Geno's suck; the best steaks are from XYZ place in my neighborhood. "
If you're in the city of Philly and you're craving a cheesesteak check this place out he won't be disappointed
Geno's Steaks brings back good memories of when my father took me here to have my first authentic cheese steak sandwich when I was little. Now I have kids of my own so I just took them on a day trip to Philadelphia. I had to stop at Geno's Steaks to have a meal and hopefully a lasting memory as well.
It's always busy here however this Sunday night around 11pm was a great night. Lucked out and found parking close this Time and was 2nd in line right away. A little pricey at $10 a steak but very tasty. I enjoy one every couple of months. I just try to go on off peak times because I don't want to wait. I want it now
Service was fast and friendly. We were visiting Philly for a concert and had to stop for the essential cheesesteak. It was okay, but I was not blown away like I was expecting. I may or may not have eaten two, but the real winner here was the french fries! Definitely stop for the experience, just expect a normal steak sandwich. A good one, not a great one.
Despite the touristy feel still a very solid steak. The cherry peppers are a must on the side, and try the hot sauce if you’re into spice
Love the cheese steaks here. I've been to several Philadelphia spots but Geno's has been my go to cheese steak
Geno's is OK, nothing real special. The bread was the best part of there Cheese Steak. There wasn't much Meat or Cheese and the Onions seemed under cooked which over powered the sandwich.
I grew up eating cheese steak from genos, without a doubt my childhood favorite cheat meal. I remember when the steaks used to be 4.50 and now it's $10
convenient to go to, can be crowded at times but quick to order. Open very late at night
This is always my favorite place to go I have driven up quite a few times from Baltimore it is just delicious! And you most likely to see someone famous. The only downside is come on get with the times cash in 2018 really!
Heard alot about this place. But wasnt really thrilled about the final product. I have always had a cheesesteak which was made with lot of meat, melted cheese and lots of flavor. This was mostly bland. I only gave it 3 stars cause the fries were good.dont forget this is CASH ONLY place. If you want your money's worth pick a place in downtown.
