George B Stevenson Dam reviews
9Found this place when on a road trip with my husband. What a beautiful place to happen upon! Especially beautiful during fall foliage time.
Be prepared to enter a surreal environment with no cell service, quietness, and being surrounding by mountains. Be sure to bring a camera because the scenery is hard to explain in words
A pretty area, it's a good place to take a short walk. There's a feeling of solitude when sitting on one of the several nice benches. What I would enjoy is a more detailed description of the purpose of the dam and explanation of how it functions. For instance, the water must be going under the dam? What is the purpose of the building?
Upon my arrival at the George B. Stevenson dam, set amidst the untouched landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, I felt as though I had been transported to a scene straight from one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tales. The fog, thick as pea soup, shrouded the dam, lending an ethereal, almost spectral quality to the setting. One half expected to see Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson emerge from the mists, hot on the trail of a mysterious case.
The dam, while a marvel of engineering, took on a gothic ambiance in this foggy setting. The low visibility and eeriness only heightened one's senses, and every sound seemed to echo with a story of its own. The whispering winds and gentle lapping of water painted a picture of nature's haunting beauty.
For any individual with a predilection for the dramatic and a fondness for the uncanny, a visit to the George B. Stevenson dam on a fog-filled morning is an experience par excellence. It's a setting where the line between reality and fiction blurs, and where one's imagination can truly run wild. An absolute must-visit for any fan of the classics, or anyone simply in search of the sublime and the mysterious
Great place to stop after visiting the Sinnamahoning State Park. Lots of great views and the dam itself is very impressive. The large elevated walkway over to the top of the dam provides wonderful photos of the dam and surrounding countryside.
Such a beautiful place. I just wish I caught more fish. Maybe fishing in the fall will be better vs. July 27th.
Absolutely gorgeous view in the dead of winter, I hope to see it when there's more life. Elk tracks everywhere too!
This is a nice place to park and walk around. There is a very nice view of the reservoir. There is supposedly an eagle nest in the area but we did not see any. Also there is a sign saying that there are rattlesnakes in the area so please be careful when walking around, especially near all the rocks.
Peaceful and quiet, walk out on the dam breast, look for Eagles there are benches you can sit and enjoy nature.
