If you need a roof over your head then do what you gotta do. My room had a broken desk that fell on me as I was working. And most things are not in the best conditions. Also, don't expect your security deposit back at all. You will most likely end up having to pay extra no matter how clean you try to make the place.

GN is by far the best property management company in my family's experience between myself and my two sisters who were also Penn Staters. The office staff is so kind and responsive, and maintenance requests are filled quickly. Living in a GN property has saved me so much of the apartment drama that my sisters had and many of my friends have. I also just love town square because it's a smaller/quieter building than many of the ones downtown, and I'm able to park on-site (for an additional cost).

Went here this morning and had a terrible experience. I already regret living here and I am only a week into my lease. I needed a parking pass because mine was not in my packet with my keys. The lady at the office gave me a ton of attitude because she had to take 5 minutes to get me a new sticker. I pay $100 a month just to park (1 block away from my apartment too, can’t even park at my actual apartment). I have worked for 5 years in customer service as a general manager and have never met such rude workers. Avoid the office and GN as much as you can.

Overall, I had an okay experience. I will preface this by saying my review is mostly because I think the office folks are genuinely so kind and helpful and I appreciate them a lot.

As far as where we lived in the graduate. It was okay. Not great. You get the feeling that things are allowed to slide for so long because we’re all college students, which isn’t okay. We only had one out of two elevators for 98% of the school year. And half the time it was down. That’s not okay considering the potential accessibility needs of resident and visitors. We would frequently get last minute emails informing us the elevator was down for several hours at a time, multiple times a month. Sometimes it would just be down. I understand that’s the elevator company but it seemed like there needed to be a new contractor.

Having the Vibe coffee shop in the lobby of the building was great. They are a seperate, small business but are the best perk for residents.great coffee!

The actual apartment we had was clean on move in with a beautiful new couch. The blue carpet in the bedrooms is terrible though. Every drop of lint or anything shows up. We had to vacuum constantly and you have to pay out of pocket to get the carpets cleaned professionally at the end of the year. Didn’t like that as I understand some residents won’t care for carpets but we did keep it clean and vacuumed all year.

Overall, okay living with solid location (quick walk to the bus).

GN is the last place you want to live in State College. Charges tenants for the wear and tear to their building. To sum them up in one action, they charge a $120 fee to vacuum the rug. Our apartment was hard wood. They just want your money, and don't care about the tenants. They also give rewards for good reviews, so I would think thats biased.
