Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA, Wilkes-Barre PA

I am a traveling nurse who came to this community to help. I have been here and going to this Y for weeks. I get Covid tested 2x per week and now I’m not permitted here because I’m an “ outsider. ” If they don’t care about the well-being and help of those who were asked to come and help I will go to work in a community who does. There is no lack of work for nurses. Thank you Coleen for the hospitality.

The actual facility deserves five stars but the staff isn't all that great.

Facilities are old, showers do not work well, bathrooms are dirty with insects crawling about and changing rooms are too far from the pool area. Swim classes for children are crowded and some instructors clearly have no experience. Sadly not many other options are available in this area for swimming.

They charge too much money to be the YMCA. Over $500 a year for a bare minimum membership compared to other places like the Odyssey Fitness Center. For the price of one year at the YMCA I get two years at Odyssey, which has so much more to offer and I still have about $115 left. That's just crazy that the YMCA charges so much and offers so little in comparison.
