Green Eggs Café, Philadelphia PA

Food was definitely good. My potatoes were a bit greasy hence the removed star. Atmosphere is pretty standard, nothing exciting or unique.

Best breakfast i’ve had… probably ever! My boyfriend and I went around 9: 30am on a Saturday and it was already packed. I wanted to get there as close to open (9: 00am) as possible, because i’ve heard this spot is pretty popular. We were told to wait outside for about 5 minutes, and were seated within that time frame. By 10: 00am there was a huge line forming outside, and the table next to me even asked each other "oh wow, what’s that line for? " So make sure to get here EARLY.

Now onto the food!
I ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast and Bacon. My boyfriend ordered the Creole Shrimp & Grits. We both ordered a Pineapple Breeze Cocktail, and we took 2 Crème Brûlée Lattes to go!

The french toast was AMAZING. Was cooked perfectly, and had fruit decorating it as well. One thing I must say, is that the food is very photo worthy. Had the best bacon of my life here. It was thick cut, and cooked perfectly, and i’m usually not a pork girl. I dipped the bacon in my boyfriends grits and it was AMAZING. The drinks were good as well! I unfortunately left my latte on the table, and within the 30 seconds it took to get back it was GONE due to it being filled with people, and the employees clearing the table fast (which is amazing). My boyfriend ended up spilling his in the car, so unfortunately unable to review those.

Overall ended up coming to around $80-$90 after tax and thé automatic 18% gratuity once the bill hits $50. I’m not mad about it though. Money well spent.

Parking was also a breeze! There was some sort of festival or event blocking the street in front of this place, but i was able to find some paid parking on a neighboring street, and only paid around $6 - $7 after being there an hour, hour and a half

Some notes:
Come with an APPETITE. The portions are HUGE, which is good considering the price. This place is also CASH ONLY but they have an ATM inside. And once again, make sure to get here EARLY.

Was a line but wait wasn't long.
The food comes out hot and so good. Definitely go again and try something else.

My partner really wanted to come here as this is one of their favorite places.

In addition to the place being extremely loud the forks were not clean.

After placing an order for our food and for our entrees we ordered two drinks. Well, finishing my food and after I've finished my drink. I was approached by a waitress twice about a refill.

I declined and let them know that I wasn't ready for another yet.

Ask, my partner is autistic and it was loud. We were both wearing headphones with my partner also wearing noise cancelling earmuffs and we were eating our food silently watching a movie on my phone while we ate.

About 12 minutes after we got our food (I checked) they brought us the check unprompted.

The restaurant was not full and there were many empties seats in our section. My intent was to buy more drinks after I even some more of my food. Having the check brought to me unprompted was extremely rude.

The food is okay. I had there seasonal vegan French toast. While my partner had their cereal French toast. The food was about average with her food verging on stunt food.

The portions were large but the french toast wasn't made particularly well. It was not offensive. I enjoyed the food but the experience wasn't great.

I've managed a restaurant in. I've worked as a server for many years. And I understand and make an effort to be a great customer. I still tip well and I was going to buy a lot of drinks. I was watching our time to make sure that we weren't being disruptive or taking too long.

I think that because we will watching a movie at the table. They thought that we were done or may not have liked it.

The truth is, is that my partner is autistic. It needs the air accessibility, AIDS. And no one was being disrupted, so I'm running. Frustrated and upset that we didn't even get to enjoy. The place that we went to Philly for because she loves it.

Disappointed

Ordered steak and eggs this morning, that is all I had to eat today, I am now in the ER at Jefferson with extreme food poisoning, clammy and throwing up. Never again, please do eat here awful food. There is a serious sanitary issue with this place. I am seeking action with this place.

The portions were excellent! I had an egg white omelette and it was delicious. Very accommodating to changes and checked on us frequently

Really good specialty breakfast, big portions. If you are looking for a more traditional style, this isn’t the place. However I don’t mean that in a negative sense, the menu is extensive and creative. The specialty lattes are to die for! Had an amazing breakfast here.

Food: I ordered one of the specials of the day - Cookie Dough Stuffed French Toast - alongside the Berry Lemonade. I’m usually not a sugary/sweets person at all, but I wanted to treat myself to something different. Their French Toast portions are definitely huge, so this could be shared with another person. I enjoyed both items!

Service: I liked my experience here! They don’t take reservations, but we were seated within 5 mins of arriving. The waitress was super attentive and our food came out pretty fast.

Atmosphere: This Green Eggs Café location seems larger than the others, but they seem to pack in as many tables and chairs as possible. I was surprised by how close our table was to one another (like one inch, so you could easily hear your neighbor’s conversation) and how small their tables were. They probably anticipate a huge crowd so their setup optimizes for fitting in as many people as possible.

Tips: All Green Eggs Café locations are Cash Only, so come prepared!

Short queue in the sun to sit inside, then excellent service, and fabulous food. Very attentative server.must have had about 4 or 5 coffees. Highly recommended. [Note they take only cash, but there is a machine inside (that charges!). One star nearly docked for not taking cards, but deserves more than 4/5. Everything else, perfect! ]

Excellent food and service. The portions are huge and I wasn't able to finish all of mine, but it was still good. Go here if you want a good breakfast in center city.

Ordered chicken & waffles, chicken was so undercooked could see slight pink throughout the middle. It was very tough in texture to chew as well. Couldn’t finish the meal. Otherwise the eggs and waffles were cooked fine.

Horrible experience! Apple French Toast was absolutely trash! This manager was not willing to exchange the meal! DO NOT Go to this Location!

The service awful. Waiters/waitresses, rude. Charged outrageously for extras like a red eye in my coffee (9 dollars!) and inside is noisy with busboys slamming plates together and awful acoustics. It was a miserable experience (85 dollars for 1 egg breakfast and 1 avocado platter)

They give you a nice helping of food I'm normally someone that can finish their food I was unable to. Red Velvet Pancakes was all that

LOVED IT HERE.great service and amazing atmosphere. Love the mimosas which pairs extremely well with the chicken waffles which has a crispy and crunchy texture!

Great service. The food and restaurant policies, however, left so much to be desired. We asked for “crispy” potatoes and they were big oily blobs of starch. The eggs had little seasoning or flavor. Toast was dry and no butter was provided. Sausage had an OK flavor. The latte, mimosa, and big glass of cold water were the highlights of our meal. The ambiance was cafeteria style with lots of empty tables and a line out the door. Adding insult to injury, this is a cash-only establishment with an ATM conveniently located table-side. I don’t get it, Philly. You deserve so much better. If you’re a foodie and enjoy the finer things in life, take a pass on the Green Eggs Café.
