GWC Warranty reviews
18Yeah these guys are a scam! I bought the warranty with the vehicle. Few weeks later my power steering is leaking fluid, I go to one of their approved mechanic shops and the mechanic shop calls me two days later, saying that GWC warranty will not cover the expenses. So now I’m out of over $1200 that I paid for the warranty at the dealership when I could’ve used that $1200 towards paying for the repairs myself. So yes, do not buy this warranty. They will not honor their end of the deal.
Complete waist of money and time with this company like everyone in the comments it’s like we all having the same problem these guys are a joke scam scam scam I bought this company because it says drive with peace of mind and I can’t even find a shop that even knows who these guys are, and I have to walk in physically and call the company’s phone number at these shops for them to explain what they need to do to get a claim they have the worst customer service they will not cover nothing I got the plus package to get more coverage omg was that a mistake these people are fighting with every shop I bring them to they are telling me 115 is above average on labor cost which is a joke and 24 to 48 hrs to get a manger on the phone which took over a week completely waist of money I’m in process of finding away to cancel and get as far away from these scammers as possible DO NOT DO BUSINESS THEY DO NOT UPHOLD YOU CONTRACT
I have had 2 relatively minor repairs and these folks have barely offered to cover 40% of the quoted costs. I paid top $ for my warranty and it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. The labor rates and parts MSRP’s are that of 3rd world countries. How do you hold someone to labor rates from 3 years and not adjust? These guys are a scam!
This is the first time in my life that I have ever paid for an extended warranty. I’m not sure I would do it again. My transmission went out on my way home from Florida to Michigan. This is day 13 and GWC is dragging their feet and making the mechanic jump through unnecessary hoops. Nothing has been accomplished on my car so far. I hope my experience gets better.
Update on 9/13/23: It ended up taking 40 days to get my transmission fixed. My mechanic and myself waited on hold for hours to talk to a person (not exaggerating). The representative told me I was lucky at one point that I only waited 70 min and that some people wait several hours. Additionally, I had to pay over $1,200 that GWC would not cover. I had purchased the premium package that was supposed to cover everything. I feel completely ripped off.
I am a car dealership Service Manager and we accept dozens of extended warranties. We have tried several times to process claims for customers of GWC. They authorized the claims at one dollar amount and then send payment for less than half of the authorization leaving the customer to pay the balance. We will no longer accept GWC. I suggest you consider the same when purchasing an extended vehicle service contract.
Just terrible. There are many issues but I will highlight two main ones.
1) We had 2-3 issues on the suv we bought. We took it to the shop and GWC told the dealership they would cover 80% of diagnostic and the repair. The shop did the repair and the company came back and said they would not cover some of the items they told the dealership they would. They claimed after the fact that it was not a catastrophic breakdown and it probably happened over time. We also got hounded by the dealership for over a month because GWC took forever to pay them for the work they were covering, even the diagnostic fee they said they would cover.
2) My wife called to cancel the warranty and they told her there was no prorated cancel option and that there was no way to cancel unless the suv was totaled.
This is exactly why I never buy extended warranties. Complete waste of time and money dealing with this clown of a company. Save the $2600 and pay in cash when a repair pops up. The headache in dealing with this company is enough to never use them again and certainly will tell people to not go through them for a warranty.
The engine got broken after I purchased the car. Put my car to a mechanic shop and the gwc covered the replacement of the whole engine. It takes about a month to go through all the process but it's worth it. Highly recommened this company to get third party warranty.
They are the best when have to be payed, but to send somebody to check the work to do or accept the works to pay, they aren't, they was contracting with a mechanic for replace a broken transmission with a used one
I don't recommend this company to do business with. Paid for warranty of my 2017 Ford F150 King Ranch. Contact them on or about 08/21/2023. I had my engine light come on. Called and ask if the spark plugs and coils were covered. They said no. Took my truck to a shop got it fix. It was the injectors. Call them back and the representative I spoke with said yes those are covered but since I got it fix they won't reimburse me the money that I just spent
My water pump went out in my 2014 ford explorer two weeks after I purchased it. GWC said it is a covered service and I get 5 days rental car reimbursement $50 a day up to $250. Of course my water pump went out on a Friday and almost all the shops were closed. I found a shop that would work me in on Monday. I dropped off my vehicle and got a rental car. Turns out that the water pump is a 10 hour job and the shop had to take the top of the engine apart and take pictures and wait to get authorization before they could proceed! Long story short it took 12 days in a rental car, I had a friend that hooked me up with $25 a day which I paid almost $400 for the rental. When I called and tried to turn in my rental receipt I was given the wrong email address and it kept getting return. Finally I got the right email and when I asked about my reimbursement they told me I would only get $125 back! Not only was I out another $300 but they would not pay for the timing chain to be replaced even though it needed to be done because it wasn’t broke! This warranty is the complete opposite of what they say. I was so stressed out and financially hit when I was not expecting it! I would not recommend this warranty ever!
I bought a car 4 weeks ago and the check engine light came on. I went to a dealership to get the car serviced and after being told that the deductible was $100 I ended up paying $250. And GWC didnt cover the full hourly rate of labor so i ended up spending an extra $100 to cover the labor that they wouldn’t pay for. And last but not least, the mechanic found an oil leak, GWC refused to pay for the oil leak which was $930, although the warranty is supposed to cover powertrain for the vehicle. I spent 4 hours waiting for my car and spent $250 more than i should have.
GWC has taken days for the inspector to arrive at the shop. They’ve made excuses as far as the scheduling mistakes. I requested a call to meet the inspector and test drive allowing me to show him the transmission slipping between 1st and second gear. Didn’t happen. They didn’t read the shop notes. Today I was told they found no issues. Buyer BEWARE—-
My transmission went out in my car I sent them the invoice they asked for and still nothing it’s going on 2 weeks now and nothing
This was been the worst company to deal with. My car was totaled July 1,2023 and all paperwork emailed in. However, they never show any paperwork until the 5 time emailing on 8/25. I have had to make 2 car payments on a vehicle that was totaled because of this company. I'm afraid I will never recoup the money I have paid out to stay in good credit rating.
Never again they took my payment of $428 to renew my warranty then decided to tell me my monthly payment would automatically come out of the account that I just paid with I feel like that's unprofessional and I should have been told that before my payment was taken because I don't like surprises and I should have been given an option for automatic withdrawal or not having a warranty is good but I have other bills that are more important then having a Warranty on my car I feel like they tricked me to get the payment and that's why they decided to tell me about the automatic withdrawal after they had my card information so I will be canceling and finding another Warranty company who could be honest and not hide information such as I should have an option that fits my budget without automatic withdrawal but they don't give you that option because the cancelation is free with that plan I want to do business with a company that care about they customers
Nasty attiudes when you call them. It takes them more than a hour to answer the phone. Or days for them to call you back or have your car fix. They can't even tell me whats cover or not coveron my con tract.and im looking on my contract what they gave me paying more out pocket.whatever female on claims with the nasty attitude carmeletta thank you for your rude service. Don't waste your time or money with this company.
Pamela in the parts department really worked with me and stayed patient with me kept me in the loop on my parts and what they could do. Thank you Pamela
Scam. Stay far away. Wouldn’t pay for my claim even though it’s covered. Called and a manager wouldn’t even talk to me. Lady hung up on the phone as well. Totally unprofessional and liars that work here.
