Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ reviews
14We came back after 1 year, they cancels buffet. You have to order one by one. But they offer 2 person 3 person and 4 person meals. My husband and me ordered 3 person meals which feel not enough for two person. The price is high.
I had Gyu-Kaku a few years ago for the first time at their Boston location and was excited to see one near me in Philly. I came here for lunch on a Saturday with my husband and a friend. We were seated immediately and service was friendly and professional.
The three of us decided to share the Meat-Lovers combo despite that it's a set for two because we weren't hungry enough for the 4-person combo. However, afterwards, though my friend and I felt like it was enough food, my husband was still a little hungry. For extras, we ordered the House Sake and Taiyaki. Both were quite good!
Delicious food and fantastic service! Thank you to the chef and Brandon, our server, for an unforgettable experience! Everything was perfect! We will surely be visiting again soon!
Everything i ate here was easily a 10/10. Get the garlic noodles. Service was also great and we were seated quickly without a reservation. Loved it!
Had an awesome time with the wife and little one. Food was great apart from two things. 1) The karaage was a bit overdone and lacked any of the savory favors I would expect from a soy sauce, mirin, and garlic/ginger seasoned dish. 2) I would really appreciate my grill cover to be replaced at least once during my meal. I ask this given that it begins to accumulate significant amounts of charred meat and starts to either restrict your grill area or it will contaminate your other meats with hard and unpleasant flavors.
One star only to the lost memories to the gyu Kaku brand and every thing else was downgraded (I did hear there was a change of ownership?)
First all, one of their signatures, the 3 amazing sauces were limited to 2, of which only the hot sauce tasted similar, while the other one was a very salty sauce sauce with virtually no flavor in there.
Sakiyaki Bibimba used to be what I order every single time, only to find our on this visit that it was a full bowl of white rice with minimal beef or flavor, and the bowl wasn't even hot enough to cook the contents (which was the whole point of a bibimba).
They reduced the menu options for meat, which I understand, but stay away from the Umakara serious - it's low quality meat heavily marinated.
All in all, you can tell this restaurant no longer cares about the quality of its food, which is the core of this brand, and with plenty of other bbq/bar options in and out of the city, I would not recommend you come back,
No all you can eat on the weekends. They used to and now don't. Only came for all you can eat. Not cool. Way more expensive now.
I've always wanted to eat at a Japanese barbecue restaurant ever since I was a kid. After seeing the rave reviews I made a reservation. Our server was really knowledgeable and was eager to answer my dietary questions about the food (I'm Keto). They were able to give me meats without sugary seasonings. I highly recommend trying the asparagus.
It was JUST OK this last of many visits. Their level of service and cleanliness has declined. There's just too much going on in Philadelphia to be bothered with establishments that don't take pride in their appearance. How many times are you going to make excuses about that bathroom? It smells.
Contemporary place but the food is below typical Korean/Asian barbecue place. Expensive in comparison.
I had visited this restaurant chain before in the west coast, and this one is as good as their western friends: the meat was amazing, properly seasoned, and delicious. The fried rice is also pretty good. Lunch menu is quite affordable, and well served.
Loved the experience.great value for the amount of food! A definite "would return" and "would recommend".
My favorite place. They got wifi, good food, freshly grilled right in front of you. Tasty sauce. Pleasant and super nice staff, especially Naomi. I downloaded their app and redeem free food everytime I visit. Special lunch from 3-5pm. You can get $70 package for 2 or try the all you can eat. Will always recommend this place to all of my friends!
We came form upstate NY for a conference and stumbled upon this place as we were walking and actually looking for a taco place. I am SO GLAD we took a chance on this place over tacos. I've never turned down tacos in my life and DEAR LORD. I am so happy with my decision. Go. Let them teach you how its done and enjoy. Seriously one of the best dining experiences of my young life.
