Half Price Books reviews
23 The last time I was here, it was very crowded. Taking the pandemic seriously, I wonder what their current operating capacity is.
Outside of that, I absolutely love this place. Great books at great prices. And a really good vinyl collection, if that's your thing
Rating 4/5, only because of the capacity issue
Really nice staff. The prices were very nice and there was quite the variety. I will definitely go back and shop more.
This place is really awesome. The staff are passionate about books and music and they want to help you find good deals. I realize this isn't a small business on a local level but the company overall isn't huge and the fact that they sell both new and used books, media, etc is great, especially if you're tired of the big box bookstores. I've found so many books that are on the rare side at a decent price and not just stuff that's currently popular. Worth the trip.
1/2 Price Books in Monroeville, PA is my favorite place to shop not only for books, but vintage items, goofy knickknacks, journals, etc. I recommend checking them out.
My daughter picked out some books at their Bethel Park location on 1/5/2021, and I paid with a check. Once we got home, she noticed that she already had two of the books. On 1/7/2021, we drove to their Monroeville location to return the books, and I was told that because I paid with a check that I had to wait 7 days until the check cleared to return the books. Okay; but you only have 7 days to return the books to get your money back, right? I NEVER had an issue with returning a book at this location when I paid by check. The manager, Matt, said that's the way it always was since he worked there; six years. Again, I NEVER had an issue returning books to this location after writing a check. I was not happy. Matt got an attitude about it, and told the cashier to give me a store credit. Not going to work; paying with a check is like paying with cash and I am returning the books within the 7 day period. Never again. Matt called his district manager who told him to give me the refund. I took the money and we went to Barnes & Noble in Monroeville Mall.
***Disappointed in the the offer made on books that they buy. I understand their position but feel like they low ball their customers. You could make more money selling them on Craigslist, OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace.
Otherwise, this store is great. Decent prices and a good selection. Clean and organized. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Trade in your old books for some new ones. They have a great, well-organized selection of everything: books, games, puzzles, kid stuff, gifts.
My favorite place to go for great books at a super cheap or reasonable price. Staff great and the atmosphere is awesome.
I love half price books, tons of books about everything you could imagine. My friend came to sleep some magazines and books and they were super nice to us and helped us find everything we were looking for.
Never ceases to amaze me the selection they have. Stingy on paying you for books but I can't imagine the turn around is all that fast for most.
Pleasantly surprised at this place. Neat items and staff was really friendly and helpful. Definitely stopping back.
My favorite book place near Westmoreland county! Great selection and reasonable prices plus lots of coupons too!
Had good prices for everything, and had a good atmosphere. Everything was labeled well and was organized so you could find items easier.
When you go to this store be sure to check out the bargain section in the back of the store. I have found some good books there.
Great for buying used books. Sell back prices are very low, however if you just want to recycle books- worth it!
With these stores seemingly closing left and right it's good to see this one still operational. Close enough to stop on the way back from Pittsburgh.
This location has a large selection of tons of books as well as copious amounts of other media.
I've found many books that I haven't seen before and don't have to pay a fortune to get the different books I want. If I'm looking for certain books, they have been helpful with locating them for me. They are really nice and pleasant every time I've been there
Found a good amount of manga there and couldn’t be happier actually. I’ve also been there to sell a few old things which is nice within itself.
I visit this store often. On a recent visit, i witnessed a manger (I was told her name is Gina) scream at a female employee multiple times.
I enjoy dropping off my no longer needed books and media, knowing that they will either find a new home or be properly recycled. I usually just donate the items. The store is fun to browse around
Bookstores are a dying commodity, not only does Half Price sell them but at a great value too. My last purchase included several clearance and their "normal" price manga books in a set of ten for about 35 bucks. Books that sell in stores right now for 11-14 each! Go when you have a few hours to spend, may take you minutes may take the full time but there is definitely something there for every type of bookworm.
