Harper’s Tavern reviews
11I would highly recommend this place. It is a bit expensive but it's worth every coin spent. The soups are
Went there for the Reuben. Very good, except the bread was left on grill too long and served burnt. The fish and chips were also burnt - both the fries and the fish. Guessing the cook had a phone call while preparing our meal. (It was not busy.)
Menu said the fish was hand breaded. Can't imagine that. The fish was low quality. Maybe pollack. Hard to tell.too overcooked.
Well known for their prime rib
special. Very old and charming restaurant. Very good service. Highly recommend making a reservation. We have been going there for about 10 years.
It was an after funeral meal and all was so nice. Food was great, especially the roast beef and gravy.
Love the historic building and all the little rooms for seating. Excellent food. Likely the best crab cake I've ever had at a restaurant. Very little filler. I had the stuffed flounder (excellent) and hubs had the prime rib. I think we found our new favorite when we want a really nice meal.
Really greatspot for a birthday. Amazing service! Off the chain on the food. We will return!
Terrible service and the steak I had was a huge salt bomb. I love salt but my lips were burning trying to eat it. The chicken parm was just a chicken patty with cheap sauce. The server asked us if we wanted a refill for the first time when she brought the check. Our drinks were almost empty when she brought the entrée. Will never return
Was a spare of the moment stop. We missed our turn an ended up turning around in the parking lot. Looked like our type of place an boy was I right the food was great the waitress was very nice an made sure we were good definitely be back an would recommend
My wife and I live near Annapolis area and whenever we go north to Poconos, Canada, etc.we make sure we stop at Harpers Tavern. Not only do they have the best steaks we have gotten, but the rich history of the Tavern is also a must see. You cannot find another restaurant where the service can be any better, it's simply top notch. Atmosphere is nice and casual so if you are looking for a Tavern or restaurant in the Harrisburg area, Harpers Tavern is a must!
They were able to put together a beautiful luncheon for over fifty people with two days notice. Excellent food and service!
We had a fantastic time here. It was a spur of the moment stop between Hershey Park and our room.
The waitress was funny and friendly. She knew everything and was very helpful and nice. She made us feel welcome, which was good because we had a long day.
I had the thick pork chop and my husband had a burger. The zucchini and squash was perfect, and the fries were crispy.
Parking was a bit confusing and we were not sure where the entrance was, but once we found it, we felt silly. It is in the back, by the way. They had a live band and we were there for the end of happy hour.
I am glad we stopped here, we had a good time.
