Haycreek Valley Historical reviews
10Oh my word. This place is a great find! I cannot wait to go to their other events. It’s super fun definitely family friendly.
The Haycreek Festival they put on every year on the first weekend of September is one of my favorite things to visit. They're is an operating cider mill, glass blowing demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, and my personal favorite, the old steam tractors and machinery. Plus some of the best soups, made in giant black kettles over an open fire, that you'll ever have. The money raised benefits the restoration of the iron furnace where the festival is held.
Great job of presenting the old iron furnace sir and the buildings. In addition, they had a great festival today with lots of displays and things for sale. I really enjoyed our 5 hours there today.
There are many historical furnaces in PA and there's not one I wouldn't recommend. Everyone of them is worth checking out and walking around to read the signs and see the layout. No exceptions here definitely take an hour and walk around the Joann furnace
Date of visit: Friday February 3,2023. Interesting relic located along Hay Creek. The owners put on a festival every fall. Parking is available.
I love the events here. Informative and enjoyable. They've had less vendors since covid, maybe because of the high booth price?
This is the preeminent Pennsylvania iron furnace being interpreted by a private non-profit organization. They are constantly restoring the remaining plantation and adding other features in order to maintain an understanding of the crafts and culture of our 19th Century ancestors. The events and festivals they host every year to raise funds to maintain and improve their site are always worth attending, even if you aren't "in to history. " If the sights and sounds don't thrill you, the food will keep you coming back for more visits!
Nice event. Very crowded. Hard to get to food, long lines. Had to wait 1/2 hr. For quart of soup. Got tired of waiting, left without most of what we went there for.
The Apple festival they host here every year is awesome. You get great food and get to interact and purchase things (some hand crafted) from local people. Great fun fur the kids too!
