14 Very peaceful campgrounds. I could definitely spend more time at this site.
It has the perfect setup! Vault toilets, potable water, campsites, and dumping station.
The planners put in some thought for this site because it also has a playground area and open field for outdoor play.
There are nearby trails throughout the Allegheny National Forest. What a gem!
Short little hike that's easy to do through virgin timber. It can get pretty mucky if it's been raining.
Owls, fireflies, massive trees, deer, and maybe even a bear if you are lucky. This place has everything you want from the PA wilds. Lots of trails for strolling, running, or just contemplating.
This magical chunk of Allegheny National Forest is home to very well maintained trails that lead the adventurer through land that is full of old growth forest as well as some beautiful SW PA scenery. The trail head is well appointed with bathrooms, loads of parking, pavilions, and grills.
All campsites are flat and with trees on 3 sides. We stayed at site #17. Paid $24 for 2 nights.
Beautiful location to do a quick hike. There is a lot to see in all directions and you can get a good feel for what this greater area must have looked like a couple hundred years ago. There are downed trees all over, but the paths are all clear and easily identifiable. There are plenty of lower branches and overhang, so you might get face full of web or hanging caterpillar, but it's not too bad. The early morning hike was nice since there was no one else out and the sounds of the forest were very present.
Serene place to take a walk and get lost. Lots of old and beautiful trees. If you wish to be by yourself, there's a good chance you could be.
Nice educational trail through old growth, 400 year old Hemlock forest. Picnic tables available, but restrooms locked due to Covid 19.
Old Growth Forest with trails and campsites that are peaceful. A few different trails, but the interpretive trail is easy and not long that highlights the old-growth forest. Beautiful place.
Great place. Off the beaten path and great. Bathroom was the cleanest vault toilet I've ever come across.
Great place to bring the dogs for a walk.
The old growth is very cool, it has a different presence about it.
I have been visiting this campsite for over 20 years, totally remote and is still close enough to the river
Nice place for a hike through a short quarter mile loop or a long mile long loop. Amazing old growth trees.
The "Interpretive Trail" is a great short hike, seems mostly accessible for children and such. Would recommend.
