Hemlock Natural Area reviews
4Nice trail and area. Trail is narrow and fairly primitive with lots of slippery rocks. There are some big hemlocks, but maybe 120 feet tall. A lot seem to stressed and quite a few dead trees. Quiet and away from people. Small parking lot, no bathrooms of trash cans.
Pretty rigorous hike on a hot and buggy July day. Saw a rattle snake. Sadly, many of the virgin hemlocks have died in the 2 decades or so since I was here last.
Great trail that is well marked, lots of dead hemlock but still a great hike.
Rim Trail was challenging, but extremely enjoyable. Hemlock Trail was dangerous, at best, as there is no true path; instead, you're scrambling over fern-covered rocks.
The space is truly incredible and many kudos to the hard work being done to save these gorgeous trees.
