This is my 2nd time renting from them.the first time they took 2 weeks to send me a receipt and release my deposit. This time they Gave me a car with half a tank of gas then I have to return with a full tank or I else will be charged a fee. After 24hrs I still have not been sent my receipt even after dropping the car off early (parking the car in the lot and dropping the key in the drop box after hours). And now I’m being charged an extra fee with no explanation and can not get in contact with anyone over the phone.

Took days to get the rental closed out during which they were putting a $50 hold on our credit card every day. Called twice and they promised to fix it in 24 hours (twice). Only got done because we went in person. Who knows what would have happened if we weren't local.

When I got there, I was told there is no car for me. While, I have reserved online.
I also have presidential circle status, and they can’t even do the free upgrade for me. I have rent car for many times with hertz, but this is the worst hertz spot I have ever encountered. I have been sitting there for a hour.
Terrible service, staff and management of this hertz location.

Rented for thanksgiving weekend, and was stuck with an electric vehicle because that’s all the location had left. My typically 4 hour journey took 12 hours. I didn’t realize I had booked a managers special. Also, nowhere on my booking does it say that the vehicle could be an electric one. I was given no information at the desk about charging, and the vehicle was given to me with 34 miles left of battery. Between having to alter my route to include charging stations and time spent charging, the trip was a nightmare. I normally like this location but feel like I was duped and would not rent from this hertz again.

This Hertz doesn't pick up the phone. I have been trying 3 days to contact someone there and it just rings and nobody picks up. I can't imagine the customer service they provide if they can't even answer the phone.

Extremely disappointed with Hertz. Made a reservation on Hertz to pick up a car at this location. When we arrived, they told us they didn't have any cars. Called Hertz customer service and was told they couldn't do anything for us. No refund or any form of compensation provided to us when this is Hertz's problem and Hertz's fault. Will not be booking through Hertz again and would urge anyone else to not book through Hertz.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERTZ! What a nightmare. I rented a car for a 3-day weekend - when I got to 30th St to pick it up I was told there was only 1 car available which was an EV Chevy Bolt. I explained where I was going there would not be places to charge an EV and that I would prefer a different vehicle. The counter employees were VERY rude - they said I could only get a different car if I paid significantly more. So I reluctantly agreed to the Chevy Bolt. As I was leaving the office I noticed the rental agreement ticket was for double the price I had booked so I had to go back to the counter and start over with the very rude employees. They never explained charging an EV or the options for paying tolls so I spent quality time sitting in the garage trying to figure it all out before driving off.
On the day I was set to return the car I spent hours and hours trying to find charging stations that worked and had rapid charging stations- apparently that is an issue with EVs.
When I brought the car back to 30th St station there was a very long line of customers at the Hertz counter. The same employees were there - they instructed all people returning cars to simply drop the keys in to the key box on the counter and they would process the returns and email receipts. Three days later I still had not received an email so I called the location. The line rang endlessly until it finally just hung up. I called Hertz customer service and was told the car was still listed as “not returned”! I was then assured that the issue would be escalated and resolved and I would receive an email confirming that. TWO DAYS LATER I get a robo-call from Hertz that my rental car is still listed as NOT RETURNED!
I called customer service AGAIN and was given the same line. There is no recourse or anyone to talk to beyond the basic customer service reps.
DO NOT RENT from Hertz!

I came in today for a 9: 30am reservation. Things moved a little slow as there was only one person at the desk. After about 15 minutes of wait time a woman came in. The male worker looked at his watch and said "You're two hours late". Nevertheless, she promptly got to work and helped the next customer. When it was my turn the male employee made limited eye contact and only informed me that the car had about 30 miles on it. When I get to the garage I discover it's an electric vehicle. (After reading a previous review I believe they have a pattern of giving these out without full disclosure.) I see it indeed has only 30 miles of driving but of course I have no idea where to charge it. I make a quick Google search and see three charging stations nearby. I get to the garage, make an account (required) with the provider, and plug in the car. When I open the door the display says it will not be charged until 8: 30pm. I immediately panic as I'm already behind schedule. I call the office twice and the phone keeps ringing. I decide to walk back and upon exiting the garage I ask the attendant if I still need to pay even though I'm charging and she says yes. When I arrive back at the car rental location I ask why they haven't answered the phone. The response was "The phone hasn't rang. " I brush past the response and tell them how I wasn't informed it was electric and it will take an absurd amount of time to charge. The male employee stated I requested an EV, I show him my reservation which only lists "Compact". He then says that where I booked was the issue and he didn't think to tell me it was electric. I again ignore the lame excuse and emphasize the charge time. He says "No that's too long, go to BJ's, that's where we take it. " I reply "How was I supposed to know? I've never driven an electric car before. " He quickly disengages from the conversation, turns his body away from me and doesn't say another word. I'm unsure if this is how employees are trained or this was his personal tactic to deescalate a situation, but it felt incredibly dismissive. Furthermore, it was clear he was not invested in assisting me for his poor customer service.

Overall, this is very disappointing because I do not own a vehicle and rely on car rentals when I want to make long distance trips that I cannot access via Amtrak. This is only the second time I have made a reservation at this location but I suggest that others consider a more qualified company/employees.

They are the worst in this world. The woman at the front desk is extremely rude. The staff are extremely lazy and they are extremely slow. Rude, slow, and they can’t guarantee a car for your reservation. And I want to say to the woman: the door is not push your customer. (she said “ the door is there. Go out”) You should go back to kindergarten to be educated at least not be an animal. Learn to watch your word, and learn how to be an educated person.

Things move slowly. But beyond that, no real substantive complaints. That being said, I’ve witnessed rental agents give away cars that had been spoken for multiple times over the past several days - at other Hertz locations (in Philly and beyond). So, just don’t get too tied to the car you booked, or the time and date you booked it for, and you’ll do just fine. I know that sounds coarse. While that may sound crude, tis true.

Take it from me, I’m a member of the club and the circle, and I still take a backseat occasionally.

Worst experience ever! They never answered the phone! I returned my car back October 2 and I still get calls from hertz rental that my car is overdue and I need to take car back! Called costumer support and they have no idea what is going on! Got no email for confirmation either!

I would have given minus stars if I could! I have never been so embarrassed and belittled by anyone let alone a car representative as I was today! Tony and his colleague (a female) were more than rude.
After waiting more than an hour for our car which we still didn't have, I approached the desk to ask what was happening. I was responded to in a very negative manner and very unprofessional manner as well! I was talked to like a 5 year old and told that there are no cars available right now. When my husband tried to understand why they weren't ready and still being cleaned, Tony told my husband that he basically needs to control me because 'I started it. ' the conversation got so heated that I told them may as well just cancel our reservation. Instead of replying with a nice tone we were told that our reservation was canceled and we better get out before they call the police! Tbh the police should have been called on them! Tony didn't like that a white woman was demanding something so he decided to show us who was boss. I don't appreciate racism in any way! And he made the situation personal. I will NEVER rent from hertz, especially not in Philly! And I hope all of you find another car company to rent from as well!
When I called customer service they apologized and said there was nothing they could do for me. Really? Go repremeand your staff at least. Miserable company!

Updating to three stars since Hertz did the right thing here and reversed the battery fee.

Horrible experience and even worse customer service. I didn't book an EV, never requested an EV, yet they gave me one, and never said a word about it at the counter.

It wouldn't have been a problem except it had less than a hundred miles on it, and it was PAINFULLY SLOW to charge (about 15 miles an hour). We had to waste 5 hours on our trip down and 5 hours on our trip back and still barely made it.

On top of that, they had the gall to charge me an extra 35 dollars because the battery was less than 50 %. Even though this was communicated no where, and the battery was less than 50 % when I picked up. Customer service was useless when I called.

So not only did I have a terrible experience, I had to pay extra for that terrible experience. First and last time with Hertz. Stick with National.

I keep going back to them because they have overnight dropoff. I live in town and have nowhere to park. They consistently do not have the car type I reserved, or, as was the case three previous times, NO CAR AT ALL. Four times now they didnt bother checking in the overnight-dropped-off vehicle the next business day, causing my cc to be charged an add'l $100 late fee, which I have to work to get reversed. This last weekend's rental was no different. All this great customer service for a gold member!

Do not use for same day reservations! Website/app let’s you book, when you arrive they have no cars and say they can’t refund/help you! Stranded now, no car, no assistance and awful customer service.

When I arrive on time, I was told there is no car for me. While, I have registered and reserved online and paid for the car. They changed the car, and charged 45 more. But still, I have been sitting here waiting for a hour. Terrible and unbelievable.

One of my worst experience as a customer. Staff was rude and they charged me 40% more of the confirmed amount. Those people are a joke!

I am a gold star member, I usually book at the airport location and I’ve never had issues. This was my first time coming with this location and they are terrible. Communication is poor, the employees are unprofessional in every way. They assigned me a dirty car with a half full tank. When I tried to call two days in a row they never answered. There is more that I will add later once I have the energy.

Worst rental location to rent from. No one ever answers the phone, and the employees there don’t care. Returned a vehicle on the return date and got charged for an extra three days for a vehicle that was in their possession. I couldn’t get through to them nor could the billing department. Lookkng like I might have to take some legal action here. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COST.
