Hickory Valley Golf Club, Gilbertsville PA

Hickory Valley is one of those staple community golf clubs that has been around for years and years. Its small stature lends to its overall charm and appeal. Like many of Pennsylvania's courses, this too is tucked away from plain sight, but that quick windy road that leads up to the clubhouse allows the excitement to build before you hit the links.

Played on a Saturday recently. The course was in great condition when I played. The greens were fast and challenging. Nice staff. Only wished the pace of play was faster. Did not see any cart girls for snacks or drinks.

After a brief frost delay (we teed off less than 15 minutes from our original time) we somehow managed to endure a 5hr and 40 minute round. I imagine it was a good day for the cart girl and alcohol sales. Probably won't rush to go back anytime soon for 72$

Early Sunday morning golf pace of play was excellent, conditions were fairly decent fairways and fringe were a little rough but greens were solid. Late summer, and minimal natural rain this year Is a little rough on local courses

Very well run place. Everyone is super nice. Wasn’t crowded on a Saturday at 10am tee time. Cart person came 4x during our round. Well manicured. Will come back to play the ambassador course.

Played the Ambassador side at Hickory Valley Golf Club. Course was in good shape. Some bare spots I the fairways. Other that that good shape. Greens were good too.

Played the Presidential course today, it is extremely slow (we had to wait on most holes) and there was no ranger to be found. I called the pro shop and he said they have no ranger. For a premium course it was very disappointing that there was no ranger. On a 90 degree day there was no beverage cart, besides the bar on the 11th hole was closed and the wending machine next to it was closed. Seems like they don't care anymore. Worse the white tee boxes were in terrible shape with excessive divots, surprised that they would not move them. Not worth the price and took way too long.

St. Mary's golf team would like to say thank you for the use of your course. The kids enjoyed it so much. My daughter and I plan on visiting you me many times over the summer.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Played the Presidential. $51 for my partner. &40 for seniors. Nice layout but not worth $51. No food or snacks between the ninth and tenth holes. Bring your own food and drinks. For the price, you would think there would be sand in the traps. Not mud and water.

My brother and i tried the course today and were very disappointed. Clumps of sod littered each fairway and the grass just outside the fairways was so high that finding an errant ball is impossible. This could be a very nice golf course if they took better care of it. The only positive thing i can say is the starter was very efficient. We don’t intend to go back there any time soon. There are too many other places that put this place to shame

I stopped by for an introductory visit being that will be assigned to that location for future projects. However the weather didn't do this place any justice and I hope that when Spring and Summer roll around I can get a much prettier view of the course and its surroundings.

Played a practice rd on the Ambassador. Course was saturated.drainage seems poor. Rough was way to long, actually lost 2 balls hit in the rough.smh.pace of play was super slow due to 3 knuckleheads drinking and throwing clubs.this should not be on the Workhorse tour, sadly it is twice.hope course conditions are better for the tour next week.

A really good course, picturesque setting friendly staff, good club house, carts a little rough but who really cares. Played in late November and the conditions of the fairway and greens were great, no need for winter rules.

Can't say anything regarding the course and shape it was in bc I couldnt even make a tee time. I Called to inquire about prices and making tee time and all I got in return was attitude and disrespect with comments like "I already told u" and "didnt u hear me. " I work in customer service and that's not how u get new customers! Guess I wont be playing here. Customer service is everything in my book.

The cart paths are clearly marked for people who don't know the course. That's a big help. Unfortunately the bunkers were still water filled from rain a few days ago. Can't just cut the grass, you gotta maintain the bunkers.

Not in great shape. I worked for Mike S.when I was 18 and I am 42 now. Might need some new blood in the Superintendent department.

This was always a "it'd be such a nice course, if they just maintained it" type of place, but man has it gotten worse. Tee boxes, fairways, pace of play - all absolutely horrible.

Tight narrow Fairways, very poor condition. Very wet. Hard to designate Fairways from rough. Definitely not worth the trip.

Interesting layout but the course suffered a substantial amount of water damage during the late summers of 2018 and 2019 that has never been repaired. There are a lot of brown spots on many of the fairways.

Great course condition but what set this apart were the staff! Everyone was polite and extremely helpful.
Almost the feel of a country club, seriously they were that helpful.
Loved it so much we are likely playing again midweek.
