Took a guided tour of the University campus. It is a great place and close to the city and shenley park. You can be in the middle of the city or out on s trail in a matter of minutes. It's a cute campus with a lot of history!

No air conditioning, which makes the summers very difficult, but once the weather breaks, it's quite nice. It tends to be a quieter dorm than Litchfield Towers A & B. The South side of the building is mostly boys, whereas the North side of the building is mostly girls, though there is sometimes a floor that will be all girls. Transgender students are also welcomed at the University of Pittsburgh and can end up in either housing situation regardless of gender identity depending on where they are in their transition, what their preferences are, and how they negotiate with the school, so you can occasionally run into a boy on the "girl's side" or a girl on the "boy's side", if the student is transgender.

There are quad rooms, tri rooms, double rooms, and single rooms. The bathrooms are communal, however there is one room on every floor (on the North side) which has its own personal bathroom. You don't get to choose your room, so it will be a toss up on whether or not you get that room; it's a matter of luck.

Additionally, every room in Holland is uniquely shaped among the floor and has unique assets between floors. 902 and 1002 will be the same shape, because they are the same room on different floors (room 02, floors 9 and 10), but they have differently sized and differently placed closets and whatnot.

This means that every room is a different size. Some single rooms are very large; other single rooms are quite small, just enough space for one person. You will always have enough space to live, whether you're in a single or with a roommate (or roommates!), but your neighbor could have almost double the amount of space as you as a matter of luck. That's just how Holland is.

All in all, I enjoy the building. Of the Freshman year dormitories, it's one of my top picks. It's laid back, centralized on campus, and still has a lot of social opportunities. Plus, the Quad is right there so you never miss a thing.
